Bunk & Brew Historic Lucas House - Hostel

This is an interesting "outside the box" type of place to stay the night.

I've stayed at several hostels over the years and always had a great experience. unfortunately, my stay at Bunk and Brew in Bend was a disappointment. I opted for the women's dorm room. The room felt quite small for two sets of bunk beds. There were no chairs, no place to sit, no bedside table. All of that is not a big deal; however, the carpet was so filthy that I couldn't bring myself to place my bare feet on it. The upstairs has seven rooms each with multiple beds, yet there was only one toilet and one shower. The bathroom was dirty, the shower was covered in pink and black slime. There was an additional bathroom on the main floor where the common areas are located and was also dirty. The kitchen was dirty, food crumbs covered the counters, smears of food on the refrigerator, and the dishwashing station didn't look sanitary. It was hard to even get around in the kitchen as when I was there, it was filled with locals who I was made to believe just hang out there not paying for use of the facilities. On the good side, I had a great experience with the staff person Basil who checked me in and showed me around the property. There is a sauna house that was much cleaner than the main house. The patio area was nice, and I met some really cool people. In the end, I canceled my last two nights' reservation. I sent an email to the Bunk and Brew management to give them a chance to respond to my experience but to date have not had a response from them.

Looked like a homeless camp, sketchy area. Waited for”hosted” to wait another customer and myself. I did get a refund of nearly all of the fees. Told her I’d like this place 50 years ago. Pretty rough!

I checked in which was no problem. The worker was friendly gave me a tour. But went out and came back and had to park up the street. So no parking on site. The house wasn’t very clean. The house was hot and loud. The bathrooms were gross. I left at 2:00 in the morning and went some where else. I’ve stayed at several hostels but this is one of the worst ones I’ve ever been too.

Easeful stay among the staff and guests. Thank you all for welcoming me into the space.

This hostel was great! Friendly staff, clean premises, and always things going on at the place. I will definitely be coming back to stay at some point in the future.

Coolest hostel I've been to. Staff super friendly. There is a beer garden in back and a couple of food trucks, pool table in a tent and a SAUNA!! Only complaint is room with 4 bunks is quite small and beds are soft but lots of comfortable common spaces. They do have a couple of private rooms as well. Looking forward to going back!

The staff was fantastic! It has a positive vibe. Matt, Bridget and Laura gave outstanding service. Being in a community of young people was a great experience. Location was great as well.

The property is amazing. The rooms and communal showers are clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The house is near coffee shops, restaurant and the park. Great place to stay in bend.
