After returning from Shigatse, I chose the St. Regis Hotel again. My butler, Justin, arranged a courtyard room in the main building for me in advance. The room was more spacious, and the toiletries were Bvlgari. Everything was very comfortable. Thanks to the St. Regis and Justin, my trip to Tibet this time was very pleasant and comfortable.

I love this hotel. Staff were very friendly and caring. Due to high altitude sickness I wanted to buy Pocari Sweat on Mei Tuan but didn't have a local phone number to place the order, the ladies at the front desk helped me out. They also upgraded me to a room with the view of the Potala Palace. The room is nice, clean and spacious with oxygen supply and lots of bottled water provided. There is a big shopping mall 300 meters away (about 10-15 minutes walk) which you can find restaurants there. Free laundry service is a big plus as I spent 6 nights in this hotel. I feel the price is absolutely worth it for the customer service they provided, and I would love to try the hotels under this chain (Hilton) next time when I travel to other cities in the future.

I booked a room with a Potala Palace view, and it truly felt like the entire palace was right in front of me – the view was absolutely perfect. The bedding was also very comfortable, and I slept wonderfully every night of my four-night stay. The facilities were comprehensive, with nasal oxygen equipment and a humidifier, both working well. The bathroom facilities were a bit basic, and there was a slight odor from the floor drain. Every night, fresh fruit and yogurt were delivered to the room; the yogurt was delicious. There's no private parking lot, so you have to walk about 100 meters, but the hotel reimburses the parking fee.

Guests get free entry, offering an immersive experience of ******* culture. Plus, your photos will naturally have a vintage filter. And the courtyard? The atmosphere is simply divine, a photographer's dream! The courtyard's ambiance is incredible! With blue skies, white clouds, and beautifully carved beams and painted pillars, every photo you take looks amazing. Relax in the courtyard and order a sweet tea, juice, or coffee to enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea. Paired with authentic yak yogurt and cheese dregs, your taste buds will experience the unique flavors of the plateau. 🎁 Must-Enjoy Guest Perks: ✅ Free ******* attire experience (10:30-22:30), can be worn out to explore the ancient city. ✅ 10 complimentary retouched photos from a courtyard photoshoot (makeup and styling at your own expense). ✅ Free entry to the Gesar Gyalpo Museum. ✅ High-altitude amenity gift pack in your room: face masks, hair essential oil, makeup remover wipes, wet wipes. ✅ Free sweet tea in the courtyard. 📍 Prime Location: Right on the Barkhor Street Kora (pilgrim's circuit), just a 3-minute walk to Jokhang Temple. Super convenient for getting around. It's incredibly photogenic, perfect for transition video check-ins, the service is thoughtful, and the experience is top-notch. This was my third stay at Thangka, and it has noticeably declined compared to my stays in 2018 and 2023. The main reason I chose it again was its proximity to Jokhang Temple. However, this time I experienced significant and continuous noise at night. The next morning, during breakfast, I realized the noise was coming from a machine in the 4th-floor restaurant or the self-service laundry area. I promptly checked out the next day and informed the front desk. The front desk attendant was very kind and assured me that she would report it immediately. I hope Thangka improves.

I bought a pre-sale package on Ctrip, and the front desk ended up upgrading me to an executive suite on the second floor. Although the hotel isn't brand new, the decor is still quite good – it feels substantial and elegant. The breakfast spread was excellent, and the two-person set menu at Shang Palace was also delicious. Ms. Guo at the front desk was particularly attentive and thoughtful; she made me feel right at home from check-in to check-out. With great facilities, food, and service, the Shangri-La Hotel Lhasa is truly good value for money.

Very satisfied with everything, the best is the customer service, always answer all questions. Buy an oxygen tube for RMB 10/piece, and you can arrange an oxygen machine at the lobby bar to provide free oxygen. There were sanitary defects, cigarette butts were found, we don't smoke as a family, but it was acceptable, the sprinkler pipe leaked, and the water pressure increased after cleaning. Everything was cured by the warm customer service.

The hotel's location is excellent, and the front desk staff were very efficient with check-in. It's very close to Potala Palace, making it super convenient for getting around. All the staff were warm and welcoming, the room was clean and tidy, and the night view was fantastic. Guys, you can book this place with your eyes closed – I'd definitely come back if I have the chance!

The hotel isn't to far from the Portola Palace (a short taxi trip). I wouldn't say its a true 4 star hotel. The room was a good size, quiet and didn't smell of cigarette smoke. The room was a little worn out; I couldn't get the TV to work, the mirror on the wet bar area was cracked, there were marks to the walls where paintings/pictures had once been. Most annoying was the shower cubicle and the shower over the bath had only cold water! On my last morning the power was off in my area of the hotel and the lift was not working due to the power outage. The hotel staff do not speak English, but one lady working on reception was especially nice and helpful and we were able to communicate by using the translation app. There are lots of restaurants near by, but next time I think I'd prefer to stay closer to the Portola Palace.
