"The hotel promotes itself as Dog friendly but it only accommodated dogs in the annex bedroom. Dogs are not allowed in any part of the main hotel reception, dining area etc so it’s not really a dog friendly hotel. As owners our movements were restricted as it wasn’t appropriate to leave our dog in an unfamiliar location unsupervised as he became very distressed. Dog friendly hotels usually allow owners to bring dogs into reception areas and dining areas. If I knew this was not possible I would never have booked. On a positive note the young man Rory working in the dining room gave a great standard of service, listened to our concerns and couldn’t be anymore attentive. It is important to highlight this and obvious how hard he was working whilst we where there😀 please note the photo uploaded was taken in another local dog friendly hotel ‘Mckays’ which did actually allow dogs in the bar and communal areas as it should be."

Outstanding
GGuest UserIt is worthy of being rated as ”the best B&B”. We drove there from Inverness in the evening, and the owner would ask us our arrival time through Ctrip. When we arrived, the owner was already waiting.
The little house is very cute and has a small parking lot that can accommodate 8 cars. Everything was well organized, the room was large and very clean. There is a breakfast list for the room in the evening. You need to mark what you want to eat and put it on the table at the door. There is also a form to check what time you would like to have breakfast. The owner will collect it in the evening and prepare breakfast according to two forms the next day.
On the last day of September, I actually turned on the heating. I thought it was too exaggerated, but I slept until midnight and realized that the heating is really necessary 😂
When the store was serving breakfast in the morning, they would chat for a while, ask us where we were going, and then thoughtfully tell us how to get there. You can leave your car and luggage here first and walk to Blair Atholl Distillery, which is about one kilometer away. The scenery on the way is beautiful.
Great room& excellent service
GGuest UserA lovely stay with an upgrade to a cottage, all quickly and efficiently arranged. This was a trip in honour of an annual expedition for my late wife Caroline and I to the Pitlochry area for autumn. Caroline always wanted to stay in the lovely cottages so it was fate and her sparkle that helped with the upgrade.
Food is incredible and a wide selection of choices along with fantastic, friendly service and drinks. Very good to eat and sit by the river in warmer times. Terrific breakfast too.
The cottage was spacious and kept warm. Very comfy. They are not new so you must allow for some quirky spaces and layouts. It was lovely to have that space to relax.
Port Na Craig is a 10/15m walk from the town over the suspension bridge or the dam. It's a beautiful walk but be careful near water. Pitlochry is a beautiful town that Caroline and I have enjoyed for years and I'll continue to honour her by visiting. Thanks to the Port Na Craig team for making me so welcome and for the prosecco for toasting Caroline. Much appreciated.
Mm1nm1eThe location of the hotel is not the most accessible especially if you do not drive, we were lucky to get a taxi to the train station. The hotel is located in a heritage building so there are no lifts, it is recommended to travel light. What we enjoyed most is our time at the lounge as it is relaxing in front of the fireplace. The balcony rooms also come with a great view of the charming town.
GGiannellaGreat small hotel in the centre of Pitlochry, with free parking. The hotel made great efforts to comply with new Covid 19 regulations and made us feel safe and looked after.
GGuest UserThis was our first visit and it definitely won’t be our last. Everything about our one night stay was perfect. The castle room was so comfortable, the spa was a delight and the Sandeman restaurant was a treat. The staff were beyond helpful and the surroundings were breathtaking. A very special stay in a special hotel.
GGuest UserNice hotel in a great location. With good sized and clean rooms. The bar meals in the evening can be busy and they weren't able to accomodate for one night. Also, breakfast starts quite late at 8 am, so can be very busy a hectic when it does begin. A 7 am breakfast start would ease that and be helpful for business travellers and walkers with an early start.
GGuest UserLovely historical guest house, with extremely helpful and friendly staff. Beautiful views of the town of Pitlochry, so I advise having your own car or booking a taxi. Those highland streets are steep!
SSHUANGTIANThe hotel is great, the service facilities are superb, the super five stars, the scenery is also very good, but the location is really hearty, no matter which way to the road conditions can scare you not to continue to open
