I spent x2 nights and x3 days in Rye and I couldn't have chosen a better accomodation venue. The staff were amazing, attentive and welcoming especially Georgie on Reception who went above and beyond. The room was lovely and food and drinks heavenly. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an escape to Rye!

Went for Sunday Lunch. One of the best roasts ive ever had out. Everything cooked to perfection, the staff were really friendly, and the restaurant/hotel really lovely. Couldnt fault.

Spent a night at The George with my cousin yesterday. What a fabulous hotel in the High Street of picturesque Rye, our rooms 2 'cosy doubles ' which were charming with the most comfortable beds with crisp white linens. The bar area was lively and welcoming, and the restaurant where we had breakfast was light and airy. The choice at breakfast was perfect, and a good choice of hot options is cooked to order from full English to kippers, smoked salmon, and perfect poached eggs. This is a must stay if you are visiting Rye. Thank you Jacqui/ Wendy Rooms 8/9

My husband and I spent a couple of nights at the George to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and absolutely LOVED it! We were upgraded to a beautiful junior suite, very stylish and comfortable. The bed was so comfy, the facilities were spot-on. The only thing missing was a ‘normal’ mirror in the bathroom, there was only a magnifying one. The staff were faultless: friendly, professional and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner there and found the food excellent. The whole place was historic and interesting. Lots of stairs so maybe not ideal for less able people. But we’d go back in a heartbeat.

Excellent location in the center of everything! The hotel is very quaint and has excellent casual seating inside and out in the courtyard. They also have a nice restaurant and bar area! My room is really cool and it has a French coffee press which I used! Plus, the staff is very friendly and helpful! Only downside is the car park is about a 7 minute walk, but only $2.5o for the day.

We arrived with a baby in a buggy and three dogs and whilst we couldn’t sit in the restaurant we were welcome into the bar area. Friendly service. Good menu. Water bowl brought for dogs! Highlight was the starters - delicious dips and padron peppers. Nice salad main, but sadly the added chicken was very dry. Prawns looked great! Will visit again.

The location of The George is excellent for seeing all the main sites and shops in Rye. It is worth noting that parking outside is limited so the best option is to either drop off and then drive to one of the many nearby car parks or park up and bring your bags to the hotel. The building is full of character and is older than it looks from the facade. The floor of our room was not level, but that added to the charm of the room. The furniture was from a range of periods and locations. The room we stayed in overlooked the High Street and was still quiet at night. There were two sets of blinds, one for privacy and another set for keeping the street lights out at night. The bed was very comfortable with a range of pillows. The was a small built in wardrobe that had a high hanging rail, which could be a problem for a short person, but there was adequate space for a short stay. The bathroom had a large, deep double ended brass-coated bath and there was also an enclosed shower. The water pressure was good and the products of a good standard. There were sufficient plugs to charge phones and other devices. There is a smart TV with access to satellite TV, if you have your own personal accounts. Ensure you log off before leaving the hotel. There is a good free wifi. There is coffee and tea facilities including a kettle, but not a coffee machine. There isn't a room safe. I booked online and received a very curt and officious email shortly before my stay, warning me about cancelling the booking, car parking and booking a time for breakfast and dinner. Fortunately the reception staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived qt the hotel. There are plenty of good places to eat dinner close to the hotel. While the dinner menu was reasonably priced and had a good range of offerings, what was served was just acceptable. The breakfast had a good range of offerings, some self-service and others brought to the table. Cooked to order breakfast was included in the breakfast price. Coffee was available using a self-service machine. If you like good coffee, I would recommend The Old Apothecary, a short walk from the hotel and a destination in itself. The George is a delightful, boutique hotel ideal for a short stay and for a visit to Rye

Champagne Afternoon tea for two a birthday treat for myself from my friend. Terrible service as No one seemed to know what they were meant to be doing. Prosecco served & Not champagne. No mention of what fillings in the sandwiches or what the cakes were. One tiny pot of jam for 4 scones. We had to ask for our champagne which was Prosecco & we also had to ask for tea. No one checked on us to see if all was okay. Food was tasty. Overall service was dreadful, very disappointed.

Didn't stay at the hotel but ate at the restaurant. Really disappointing. The scallops were overcooked, the oysters were puney and the fish stew was like tomatoes soup with rubbery squid floating in it. Service added at 12.5percent. Live locally, but won't be going back.
