Mercure Budapest Castle Hill

Overall, our stay at the Mercure Budapest Castle Hill Hotel was okay as there were some areas that could be improved. The hotel front area had a warm and inviting ambience, which was nice. Upon arrival, we requested a top-floor room, but the staff recommended keeping our current room as it offered a better view. We appreciated their insight and decided to stay where we were. The hotel’s location was decent—about a 20–30 minute walk to the city area, making it manageable. The bedroom itself was spacious and comfortable, providing plenty of room to relax. However, the bathroom and toilet were quite small, which made them feel a bit cramped. Additionally, while the room was clean, the bathroom was less so. We noticed hair left behind, and there was little to no body wash gel provided. The towels were dirty upon arrival, requiring us to request new ones on the first day. One frustrating experience was with the housekeeping staff. On our second morning, we wanted to sleep in, but were interrupted twice—once at 10 AM and again at 11 AM—by a cleaner knocking to check when we would be leaving. When I confirmed that the checkout time was indeed 12 noon, I didn’t understand why they felt the need to rush us out. It felt unnecessary and a bit intrusive. Despite these issues, our stay was generally fine. If the hotel could improve housekeeping efficiency, ensure cleaner bathrooms and amenities, and provide a bit more space in the bathroom area, it would be an even better experience.

We chose Mercure Budapest Castle Hill because we are residents in Italy and have had many good experiences staying in Mercure and Novotel hotels across the country. We trusted the Accor brand and expected a professional, respectful service. Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing. We experienced multiple, serious breaches of privacy during our stay. Despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign and without any housekeeping request from us: • At 8:20 AM, a housekeeper knocked briefly and then opened the door directly, while my wife was still sleeping inside. • Later, at 9:30 AM, the same happened again — knock, then immediately entering. • Around 10:40 AM, we were disturbed once more by unexpected knocking. My wife is currently 5 months pregnant and needs sufficient rest, especially while traveling. She was woken up early and stressed due to the staff’s disregard for guest privacy. This is something we have never experienced in any Mercure hotel in Italy — such behavior would not be tolerated. We request a formal explanation from Accor regarding the lack of respect for guest privacy and the unacceptable conduct of housekeeping at this property.

someone opened our door without knocking and did so at 9 o'clock in the morning. They came in for a brief look and then left. This was extremely terrifying and frightening. Then, the power in our room was constantly out. The lights kept flickering from yesterday until now, and the air conditioner was also off. I don't think it could be the time for the housekeeping staff. It couldn't be that the cleaners accidentally entered and just opened the door without knocking. For paying more than $100 Euros a night I would have expected to have air conditioning in the room it was ineffective. Staff said they could open a window. I did not expect this. I expect better.!!

Was given a room with park view which was nice. Conveniently located near the metro station and there is a tram stop so its pretty easy to get around. Decent breakfast but will be better if they can change the food once in a while.
