IntercityHotel Budapest

IntercityHotel Budapest ★★★★

📍 Baross tér 7-8, District VIII-Jozsefvaros, Budapest

"This hotel is really conveniently located, with plenty of subway and bus lines nearby. There are also lots of food and drink options in the area. My only complaint is that the bed seemed a bit dusty; even a light pat would stir up a lot of lint. Otherwise, I'm very happy with everything."

City Hotel Mátyás
8.7 (203 reviews)

City Hotel Mátyás ★★★

📍 Március 15. tér 8, District V-Belvaros-Lipotvaros, Budapest

"It's a bit hard to find at first, traditional and old Budapest building, but the location is excellent. Couldn't be better. Super close to the Danube, Váczi Street and public transportation. Many restaurants and shops in the area are open till late. The hotel does not have parking and I paid a fortune for overnight parking. Basically 15k forint for overnight plus another 7k forint for a couple more hours. The receptionist was super helpful though and suggested a much more affordable car park, next to WestEnd, where I moved the car for the rest of the stay and used public transport instead. The hotel is good, clean and decent size room. Bathroom amenities... Don't expect much, but there's hair dryer and if I'm not wrong, there was an iron and ironing board as well. Can definitely recommend if you get it for a decent price. I'd definitely stay again."

Danubius Hotel Arena
8.9 (122 reviews)

Danubius Hotel Arena ★★★★

📍 Ifjúság útja 1-3, District XIV-Zuglo, Budapest

"Conveniently located right by the subway, this hotel is great for business travelers. It has a small balcony, and the room, though a bit compact, was very clean and well-equipped, even with a mini-fridge. My only minor complaint was that the AC couldn't be adjusted and was a bit noisy. The staff were all very friendly, so overall, I had a good experience."

"Upon arrival, you will receive a locker key where you can find your pillow and blanket. The bed is more comfortable than many hostels with very hard beds. Overall, I felt good. I would have liked to stay here for several weeks. It is a calm, quiet place and Edit at the reception is a really good person."

Hotel Veritas Hotels in Budapest

"Upon arrival, we discovered the fridge was not working and emitted a moldy smell, which required us to air out the room. Although a staff member firstly advised that we can leave our food in staff fridge for the night and he can't change it, he eventually replaced the fridge with a functional one later that evening. Later in the evening water started leaking from the ceiling due to a malfunctioning air conditioner. A staff member attempted to adjust the air conditioner, but the next day, a section of the suspended ceiling, along with metal parts from the air conditioner, fell to the floor due to the moisture. Fortunately, my children were in different parts of the room when this happened, but it could have been a serious safety hazard as one of them at the time of ceiling failure was in the bathroom which was 1 meter from the spot where it happened. A member of staff collected the fallen ceiling parts, but the water leakage persisted throughout the night. We were offered drinks at the bar as compensation, but since it was 11 PM and we were with our children, we asked the hotel to cover our parking instead. The staff member assured us that this would be no problem. Upon checking out, we discovered a thick layer of dust under the sofa, which was pulled out when we arrived. Tiles on the balcony ceiling had already fallen and shattered before our arrival, indicating a pattern of neglect. When we handed in the keys, we were informed that the owner refused to cover our parking fees as previously promised by staff and the owner attempted to blame us for overusing the air conditioner, which had been set by their staff. The hotel is incredibly run-down. Electrical outlets hang out of the walls, all lamps are filled with dead insects, and there are no kettles or tableware in the room. The safe had no batteries, and although the TV worked, we had to connect the antenna cable ourselves. The only thing that I can list as relatively adequate is the breakfast. They were not ready to serve for the amount of people that were actually having the breakfast, but when trays were filled it was fine."

"The bed was super comfy, I had a great night's sleep. It's a shame I only booked one night. I'll definitely choose to stay here again if I get the chance."

Ibis Budapest Heroes Square ★★★
"Everything was great overall: the location, and the room's size and amenities. However, the constant, loud vibrating noise coming from somewhere upstairs (we were on the 6th floor) was very annoying."

IntercityHotel Budapest ★★★★
"This hotel is a popular choice for many tourists because it's very close to the train station and feels very safe. There's a huge Spar supermarket right next door and a really good Vietnamese restaurant. The hotel itself is very clean and offers self-service."

City Hotel Mátyás ★★★
"The hotel was clean and the breakfast was varied. Despite being an old building, the location was excellent. It was right in the center and within walking distance of tourist attractions. The only negative was the lack of a desk in the room. When I wanted to eat something, I had to eat in bed."
