NH Cartagena

Great stay right in the square, walkable to all attractions. We got the room facing the merry go round at the square. It was a bit noisy but the windows (likely double glazed) and thick curtains helped with the noise and lights.

Somewhat overrated. This hotel is in need of a major renovation. Bedroom furniture is chipped and floors are cracked. The Cafe looked dark and forbidding. The person at reception was indifferent. On the positive side the location is excellent and the adventurous car park ( reached by lift) is safe and convenient

Room and indeed the entire upper floors are boiling. Doors and walls actually warm to the touch. No air conditioning (they switch it off, it only blows warm air) and a fridge inside a wooden cabinet, working overtime meant the room was stifling. We stayed here last year and were assured this would be fixed. Downstairs the restaurant and reception are cool, to the point of being cold, the bedrooms are like saunas. This meant we needed to have the window open, onto a building with a clock that strikes every quarter hour, all night long. The bars and clubs empty around 4am and that was more noise, not that we had slept anyway. To top it all, the heat meant there were still mosquitoes at the end of December, so I left exhausted, with three infected bites. €140 is too expensive for this hotel, that needs upgrading, the bathroom wasn’t clean enough, paper peeling off the walls, the toilet seat and wash hand basin tap was broken, the cups in the room were paper, the remote control for the TV didn’t work, the only English language station is a French news channel, the bed wasn’t particularly big, the room was small, but overall, we couldn’t sleep, the heat and noise made it impossible. Sure, the location is great and Cartagena is beautiful, but when you don’t, can’t sleep, and leave with infected bites, none of that matters.

We stayed there 1 night. To get to the parking below, you must take an elevator. Gosh, it was tight but we made it. We got into the elevator from the parking to our rooms with our luggage and even though we weighed less than what the maximum eight of the elevator, it stopped. It took more than 35 minutes for the Otis employee to come and get us out of this predicament. The other Otis employee who answered us when we pushed the alarm button said that he could not reach anyone at the hotel, which was alarming for us as it was 30 C and we were about to pass out. When we were finally rescued, we went’’trop the reception and asked the lady with sort hair where she was. She replied that we were not her priority. She was probably out smoking. I don’t think she wanted to work that day. Our friends asked for a bottle opener and she told them to get it in the kitchen, same for the ice. Her collègues in the kitchen were super nice and even offered our friends some coffee. The next morning, the manager, Angel, I suppose, came to see us and asked for our version of the events of the previous problem we encountered with the elevator and the employee. She had already told her version which was quite different from ours. He was indeed an Angel and he offered us free breakfast and free parking. He was so sorry and promised it would never happen again. The hotel had nice rooms, not too small, and was close to everything! What a beautiful city. It was a very nice hotel !

Lovely hotel in perfect location apart from bells ringing every hour throughout the night from nearby government building.

This hotel is right in the city center by the port and close to be able to walk around the port, shops and have dining options. It is very clean and very quiet. Very nice hotel; we would stay here again. Note: we had rented a mid-size SUV which was questionable on whether it would fit in the parking "lift/elevator" for overnight parking so we opted to park across the street in the public parking facility (open 24 hours) which worked out fine and was tad cheaper than hotel parking anyway.

This is a great Hotel so central for everything in Cartagena,I can't fault anything,Staff where very friendly and helpful, Room had everything we needed with a balcony and great views of the harbour and city, the Breakfast is amazing, with everything imaginable, freshly cooked omelettes,and what a spread..when we come back we will stay here!! We also joined there loyal scheme we where that impressed 5 Stars...And just an xtra, Cartegena is a great city our first time here but won't be our last!!!

Very nice hotel. Very central to shops and restaurants. The breakfast was amazing could not want for anything. Staff helpful and friendly would highly recommend the hotel. Mini bar in room and rooms cleaned to high spec every day.

An ideal location for the very best of cartagena, with sea, bars restaurants very close by. We took the junior suite which had amazing views across the harbour with table and chairs and sunbeds on the balcony. Coffee facilities included, plus fridge. Really clean and tidy, lovely cotton sheets, choice of pillows. Adjustable aircon, plenty of light. Really helpful reception staff that go above and beyond, answering all my questions! Helpful advice on the town and parking facilities. Pleased that they accept small dogs too, for our next visit.
