I have been staying in this hotel for a while in June/July 2023 because it was conveniently located for my business activity and the general staff, with some exceptions, were treating me like family (details below). The hotel overall especially after the war is the least kept up/maintained of all the hotels I have explored in Axum. The toilet and shower sewages are so smelly that I always had to ask the cleaning ladies to spray an air freshener. The furniture in the rooms is so dusty and the keys of the closets or the bedside-drawers hardly work or don't exist. The door and window locks are so unreliable. The curtains fell off sometimes when I tried to cover my windows. All these were happening while the manager and the owner's brother (as I understood) turn a deaf ear to feedbacks on improvement. My last straw was when the manager kept quiet watching TikTok videos on his phone as I was complaining about my green jeans being washed with a detergent for whites and its colors changed to unwearable. He kept himself busy with spending time on Facebook and TikTok than fixing a deseparately aging hotel as I observed repeatedly on countless days. Most important point is that there is a club that opened up next door (the DW) that plays such loud music until well past mid-night that you must be so so tired to be able to fall asleep. You will thank me for this feedback. I switched to another hotel which charged half the price and was at least twice as clean and quieter with more friendly owners and manager. Damned I didn't change earlier. There are so many hotels in Axum that are cheaper, newer and better kept-up.
