I was looking for a place to stay on our visit to Sigulda and the area and on our way to Estonia and this hotel was a good choice. The hotel lobby and restaurant area is very nice, albeit a little old fashion…but that was part of the charm. Front desk was very attentive, friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking in front of the hotel on the street. And the price was very reasonable. There is NO ELEVATOR (its an old hotel), but as I was struggling to take our heavy bags up the stairs, one of the hotel staff came up and asked to help. And when I went to tip him, he refused to take it…but I insisted. The room was clean and nice, albeit a bit tight. But we were there for only one night. Bed was comfortable. Had a desk to work on and reasonable plug availability. Wifi worked well enough but not perfect as it did come and go at times. Buffet in the main dining room could have been a bit better…but I gathered there were not a lot of guests at the hotel as part of the buffet was not filled (one of the warmers was empty and not being used). Still had sausage, great potato pancakes, what looked like a frittata (but it had been in the warmer too long as it was pretty dried out) some cold meats ,cheeses , hard oiled eggs, but only a few pastries. The restaurant was not open the night we were there, but they have a cafeteria and pizza parlor downstairs that was pretty busy...but it did not appeal to us. Short walk to main part of town …but we did have trouble that night finding a place open …at 8pm! Website photos are a fair representation of the hotel and rooms. While I felt it was an ok stay, keep in mind it is only a 3 star hotel and probably the best in town. Overall, for a one night stay in a small town, this was fine for us and I would recommend it to others.
