Hotel Aguas Claras Member of the Cayuga Collection

This hotel was a top notch boutique hotel with amazing service. From the noment of arrival til we left we experienced too class accomodation and service with a personal smile. Hotel is just z few minutes walk to a secluded beautiful beach. With bar, assorted chair types and sarongs and snorkeling equipment provided complimentary if you chose, this was a lovely spot to spend the day. So relaxing. The hotel pool was equally lovely, but without sea breeze a little hot. One criticism idhave was the limited loungers however i think the beach was the cooler option. Food here was lovely. We hadbreakfadt inclidex each day, vadtchoices and excellently presented. Dinner one evening equally delicious. We had abasic pavlova suite yet thd outside space, showers and seating areas within were super comfy. As were the large luxurious beds and linen . Thehotel provides afreedrying service andwater fladt andbeach bag to take with you to the bay. Top-notch seevice at reception as withwauters and house keeping. We would recommend and return. Wonderful way to finish our 3 week trip to Costa Rica. Thankyou Hotel Aguas Claras..you were amazing.

The small resort is one of the nicest places we’ve stayed, and we’ve traveled the Caribbean extensively. The grounds are beautiful and are well maintained. Service is great and food is good but not great. That being said there a few items one should know: 1. The hotel is not directly on the beach. It is a good 5 -10 minute walk down a gravel road and path. 2. Ocean is rough in February and March and difficult to swim although it’s great if like surfing and boogie boarding. September and October is much calmer. (Which we prefer) 3. Beach is nothing great with drinks and lunch served at Beach Club. Not much privacy with people coming and going all day long. Lots of dogs. 4. Excessive road noise can be heard at pool and restaurant. Reserve a room away from road such Cacao. Probably won’t be coming back any time soon.

The grounds were impeccable, but the staff was even better. Though all the staff was stupendous, we absolutely enjoyed Arriet, Leandro, Rodrigo and Jonny. Their customer service was beyond compare. We will never forget our stay there in Puerto Viejo. The town is unparalleled. We definitely prefer the Caribbean side. We will be back.

This is truly the most unique family safe hotel with excellent food and private beach in the area. We noticed that the local jungle wildlife is a part of the experience and within a short walking distance from the Jaguar Rescue Center. Don't forget to book the Caribe Horse Riding Tour at the front desk, or in advance for day one, to find your favorite jungle (Pura Vida!) beach during the tour. Cheers to the Caribbean!

We extended our stay. The place is gorgeous, nice room, great service. Menu is a little limited (food and beverage) and check-in had a long waiting time, although, the gardens are a beautiful place to wait. Overall, a positive experience and I recommend it.

We asked a girl about a service and she answered us very rudely that she did not see guests and that she only saw employee matters. Apparently her name was Maria. I understand that she could have had a bad day but that is no reason to take it out on the guests. ​

Promise kept - we came back! We had such a wonderful time with our first experience in this hotel and promised to ourselves we would come back for another taste of this magical place, and this time was even better! The weather was just perfect, the ocean had the most balanced temperature and felt like a natural pool. The hotel has a beachfront bar called Da Lime that extends beach chairs and beach beds for you to feel as comfortable as you can be while you sip on a delicious cocktail or sunbathe with an exceptional view, how cool is that!? Da Lime also offers a variety of drinks such as cocktails, freshly squeezed juices and even coconut water for a nice refreshment. There are also tables in the beachfront area in case you want to enjoy a delightful meal with a dreamy ocean view. Speaking of delicious drinks and food, the hotel also offers delicious meals in their Papaya restaurant, everything tasted amazing but we specially recommend the desserts, the are SO tasty and unique! Bet you won’t find another yogurt ice cream with beetroot cubes that tastes as amazing as this one! Last time we were at the hotel we requested a special private dinner that left us in awe. We were surprised by a beautifully detailed setting on the beach at night under a tent with beautiful lights that was just spectacular and romantic, probably our favorite part of the whole trip! When we knew we were coming back to Aguas Claras we could just not miss out on this experience this time either, so we requested another romantic meal for two for our last night. When I tell you this was the most incredible night … I can’t even begin to describe it! The hotel staff went absolutely out of their way to make us feel basically like royalty. Picture this: a whole pavilion with beautiful lighting, a delightful table setting for a 5 course meal, a spectacular pond filled with water lilies right in front of it, surrounded by the most relaxing and beautiful nature sounds - can you imagine that? Not even imagination can go as far as this setting! The staff was amazing, so respectful, such a great attitude, they knew exactly when to come around to serve the next course or to pour you something to drink. Each course made me think the food came from another planet, it was so tasty and delicious! Each dish was thoughtfully planned for us to experience different flavors and textures, it was even fun to wait around for the next course! My husband mentioned to the staff that I loved Agua de Sapo (a traditional refreshment from this region) and they so willingly searched for this refreshment and offered it during our dinner, such a beautiful surprise to see that the hotel pays attention to such details and makes each experience so unique, as if it was made just for you! (Imagine no more - will be attaching some images of this dreamy setting below) I highly recommend this hotel for anyone, no matter what your trip purpose is - could be for work, to unwind by yourself or with a significant other,

We loved our time at Aguas Claras. The rooms were lovely and we particularly enjoyed the outdoor bathroom. The beach club and restaurant pool were well maintained and beautiful. We even took some of the bikes on property out to the next beach over.

We recently spent 4 nights at Aquas Claras and loved every moment. We stayed in the Cacao suite which felt very private and spacious. Service was excellent from everyone at this resort. At check in, we were given a tour of the hotel grounds and felt very welcome with cool towels and their signature juice. Every morning we enjoyed breakfast with fresh juice and French pressed coffee. Breakfast was always delicious and beautifully plated. We were welcomed with big smiles and the greatest service which made for a great start for the day. We also came back for their happy hour specials in the evening. David made some great cocktails! Their private beach is beautiful and well kept. Nice chairs to lounge in with comfortable pillows to lay out on. Service was also excellent there with beach side drinks and lunch. The sand was soft and the beach just beautiful and serene. This resort is just so beautiful. The ambiance is very chic and tastefully decorated. Housekeeping always left our room very clean and was happy to refresh for turndown service. The front desk was very helpful with arranging dinner reservations and calling the tuk tuk for us even if we weren’t at the hotel. I cannot speak enough about the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to go above and beyond with their warm service. You will see many groundskeepers maintaining their large gardens, it’s beautiful and you can tell they take great pride in their work. The hotel organized us a few private tours: snorkeling, tour at Cahuita Park, as well as a private surf lesson. All guides were knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. We would happily recommend this hotel as a very high end luxury and romantic place in Puerto Viejo.
