Great location near Shelter Island with good access to local food, drink, and entertainment. Better than expensive corporate hotels in downtown. Come out here and then take a 15 ride to downtown.

Staff was not very friendly. Check in is glassed in and very small. They are not pet friendly as the clerk asked me twice "no pets". He stuck check ins at the end of the building. I didn't feel very safe as the room was at the end of the building. The building needs a facelift. Not very welcoming but the price was good. Stayed one night. Housekeeping was very friendly.

I have stayed here several times and maybe I was given a “good room”.
This time I was given a 1st floor room that was really dirty, linens were old and worn and outside noise was bad. Sadly I travel often for work and I don’t think this place is worth it to save $10 anymore.

Its ok, but there was lots of hair on the towels. Also hair on cups, feels like I shouldn't touch anything.

The Star Inn is a bare-bones-just-need-a-place-to-sleep motel, but the property is well-kept, the rooms are clean and appear to have been recently updated, and the beds are comfortable. Staff was amiable and efficient - check in and check out was quick and easy.

There is nothing to like about this property. It is absolutely disgusting. Unsafe and very dirty. Unpleasant staff. Roaches and filthy rooms. I could go on and on. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Bedding was sketchy. Found 6” long black hairs between the sheets. Pillows were stained, bedspread had holes in it. Dinette table had dried rice and what looked like finger nail clippings on it. Couldn’t get the tv to work. Switched rooms but it was just as dirty.

Problems started upon arrival with the owner kicking us out due to being loud it was 2 of us on the balcony on Friday night enjoying a drink later the tenants that lived at the hotel came out telling us we have to work in the morning can you guys keep it down all we were doing was talking amongst friends about a festival we were going to attend the next day. Worst customer service worst welcoming motel ive ever been to never again and i do not recommend.
