We stayed for 3 nights, we had a lovely time. It is a gem of a hotel. The staff were very helpful with suggestions of places to visit and exolore. The food was lovely, great breakfasts and the evening meals were of an excellent standard with good choice. The bar had lovely drinks menu and plenty of space with a lovely atmosphere. Would recommend it as a relaxing, restful lovely hotel where we truly felt welcomed and no request was a bother. Will definitely be back

We have been coming here for 15 years now and whilst there are many good things about the restaurant we have had food recently that simply does not match up in quality to the price. The staff are very helpful but very young and there doesn’t always seem to be someone more senior helping them. On both occasions recently we have been given another customers bill on leaving. But on our most recent visit I got chips which were luke warm and felt like they had been microwaved or left out for more than half an hour. I did get brought more chips, these were hot and recently fried which was fine but my steak was very overcooked. We then got given the wrong bill! My husbands meal was nice though. I think if a more senior member of staff had come over to apologise that would have helped. The real issue is that this is a very traditional menu, with lots of deep fried food and soggy chips should never have been allowed to leave the kitchen. At 28 euro for the steak and some greasy onions (the chips and salad are extra), this is just too expensive to send out sad chips!

We stopped in for a late lunch. As always the food was fantastic, however the service was terrible. Upon entry the sign said please wait to be seated so we we did. The girl at the desk simply asked with a sour face “can I help you?” I stated yes , a table for two please. She grabbed a couple of menus & walked to the table & put them down and just walked away like we inconvenienced her. Then came the server, another sour face with 0 personality. I didn’t get the extra dipping sauce I asked for but fortunately another server stopped by to ask if everything was ok. I asked for more sauce and he brought it right out and asked again if we needed anything. He was serving more people but was still more attentive than our server. They should have him train the others because they need to be more attentive. He was the only pleasant one there. We’ll go back for the food because it was delicious. Hopefully they will improve on their service staff. It really makes a big difference.

James & his team at Caisleain Oir Hotel never disappoint! We had a marvellous meal there and what’s really remarkable is that they are bucking the current trend of ‘hyperinflation’ The prices are very reasonable for a delicious and varied menu that uses all fresh locally sourced ingredients! The meat, fish and shellfish in particular are brilliant. There’s always a lovely atmosphere! We even tried out their new ‘Errigal Brewing Co’ own-brand beer & lager and they were wonderful we especially liked the BÁN weissbier. Thanks to all the lovely helpful Staff, hope to see you over Christmas.

The bar serves food all day which is unusual for the area. We had the Quinoa Burger (vegan) and the Nachos. We added chips of course. All were freshly prepared and tasted delicious. The service was excellent as was the value for money. It being family run makes all the difference. Highly recommended.

I will definitely be back for another stay as soon as i can. Stunning location and the craft beers that are brewed on the premises are also fabulous.
