The stand-out features were definitely the level of service and quality of food. The breakfasts were delicious - the best of any hotel we've stayed in. The experience was let down slightly by the accommodation, which wasn't by any means a five-star room. There were signs of mould around the windows, the bathroom hadn't been thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival, and the general decor was faded and worn. This was a real shame, since the main guest areas of the hotel were immaculately presented.

lovely stay at the wild boar. The room was clean and nice and bright. Extremely comfy massive bed. nice decor. food was excellent. very friendly efficient staff The only criticism I would have is that the door sort of dropped when it was opened and you had to lift it up to shut it and the shower curtain needed changing. i would stay again but probably upgrade my room option

We were excited to stay here, but to be honest we left a bit disappointed at the end of our stay. Firstly, you walk past loads of rooms that have funky pig pictures on, which is a nice touch, but for some reason our room didn't have one on. I can only assume they are suites, but it leaves you feeling a bit like you got a room that isn't as good. The bathroom needed updating. The plug was broken (useable, but looked bad) and the shower is faded. Also, I wasn't expecting a shower curtain when you are spending this sort of money. At dinner, service seemed a bit strained and the staff weren't very friendly. Not unfriendly, but just wanted to serve your food and leave. We were on a really exposed table which made it hard for us to have a personal conversion without feeling others were listening. The food was nice, but it's pricey. The bed was comfortable, but the walls are really thin so you can hear your neighbours really clearly. We were on the ground floor and must've had an outside tap under our window, as I could hear that being used really early (even before our early start). The final disappointment was that they charged £13 for parking as we were leaving! If you HAVE to charge for parking, at least just add it to the room price. Absolute joke, considering you have no choice but to drive to this hotel (unless you walk a long way). We were already not very happy but that was a real shame. Feels like this could all be easily improved if they tried a little harder.

Lovely old property staff very friendly and helpful food excellent

Very friendly welcome staff, beautiful hotel. Food and drink high quality but is on the pricey side and we had a leaky tap in our bathroom but all in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Too far to walk to Bowness. Lovely breakfast. Situated near some woods which are nice to walk in. Not pleased with £12 parking charge
