The Royal Oak Hotel

Had a lovely overnight stay in the Royal Oak this week. Spacious bedroom and bathroom with hot shower. Toiletries top quality with beautiful fluffy towels.Ate in the dining room and enjoyed the extensive choice of food on the menu. Have eaten here before and left clean plates. All food locally sourced by the hotel. Had a good night's sleep and enjoyed a cooked breakfast in the morning. Again breakfast food locally sourced and so delicious. Plenty of cold food on offer too for those who do not want a cooked breakfast. Owner and staff are lovely.Helpful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for accommodation in the Cullen area. A great experience.

We had a really delicious lunch at The Royal Oak. The scampi was really good. Other members of the family had fish cakes which they really enjoyed. The service was great and we will definitely be back. Thank you very much for a lovely lunch. It was all very easy and efficient from booking to paying the bill. I would definitely recommend.

This is a lovely friendly place to have a drink or eat some lovely food. Staff were all very friendly and even laughed off an incident with some rogue tomato ketchup. This was in keeping with Cullen which is a beautiful wee town and definitely worth a visit.

A really wonderful bar & restaurant, the staff are amazing, they were so friendly and the service was fantastic. We were on a week's holiday and ate their twice and the food was really great. Lovely for a drink and dogs welcomed! A must if you are in Cullen.

We stayed weekend, could not be better. We were late travelling up but Brenda went out of her her way to keep kitchen as late as they could to accommodate us. We arrived just in time and were served lovely meal. Breakfast too was very good but best of all was that all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel room was on the small side but clean and cozy. Short walk to the beach or into the village. Also golf course five minutes walk. Highly recommended

Stopped for lunch with friends. Waitress with overpowering and unpleasant perfume. A quiet place with just a few customers. Service ok but nothing special. Food typical of small hotels in Scotland - no imagination and average at best. Coffee was ok. Prices out of proportion.

We went to the Royal Oak for the first time today, as a family, for my mother-in-law’s 81st birthday. We were a group of 3 adults, 3 teenagers, and a baby. The staff were wonderful, friendly, and incredibly attentive. The nacho sharing starters were huge, super fresh and tasty. All the main meals were lovely, good portions, and decently priced. The macaroni cheese portions in particular were massive, and the venison was cooked perfectly. A family member had baked a birthday cake, and when staff realised this they offered to take it to the kitchen for later. They returned after our main meals with candles on the cake so family could sing happy birthday. This wasn’t expected but it was very much appreciated. There was plenty of room for the pram, and there is a changing table above the women’s toilet. The whole staff team were lovely, polite, and friendly with the whole family to a perfect level where we felt welcome and attended to but never bothered by too much checking in. Our orders were all taken and arrived quickly with no issues or mistakes. Despite there being many in our group who could open doors for the pram, a member of staff offered to open the doors on our way out whilst thanking us again for our custom. We will definitely be back again, and based on our experience we very much recommend the Royal Oak for families of all ages.

Traveled to Cullen on the bus for our meal at the Royal Oak. There is a bus stop just a few minutes walk along the road. We were greeted by a very warm welcome and throughout our meal we were well attended to. The food was very good and the portions were perfect. We spent an hour in the bar before leaving for our bus and had a magnificent time. Highly recommend the Royal Oak for a meal or even just drinks in the bar.
