Datong Pingcheng District Hotels

A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City.

I just moved into this hotel on 10 July 2025. The looks of the hotel was spacious. The crew and manager was friendly too. I had difficulty in booking some itenary that was in Beijing as it needed their number and they were friendly in assisting my request. The room when I entered was as I expected spacious and nicely designed, and the scenery was good. I like the tea set that was on the table set upon the tatami mat. It feel comfortable and I just seat there and brew myself some tea enjoying the window scenery. The breakfast was nice and tasty. Glad that I have chosen here. Will stay there again if I come to Datong.

Very good boss, very good homestay 😭 knife-cut noodles are very delicious, the room facilities are very tasteful, it is very comfortable to blow the breeze in the small courtyard, the boss is very good to help us upgrade the room type, stayed for a few days and experienced a lot of local humanities, everyone is very enthusiastic, Datong is really a very good city, outstanding people and beautiful scenery, I will come again next time 🥹🥹🥹

Absolutely loved our two-day stay at Wantoo B&B! The Tatami Twin Rooms boast two large beds and fantastic natural light, while the Starry Sky Family Room even has a bathtub, perfect for a relaxing soak after a day of sightseeing. The B&B's location is also excellent. It's situated within the ancient city yet offers convenient transportation; taxis and ride-sharing services can drop you off right at the entrance. They also provide free bicycles, which are incredibly handy for getting around. It was super convenient to cycle to attractions like Huayan Temple, Drum Tower, Shanhua Temple, and Southeast Yi. The front desk service was absolutely fantastic! For early risers, they thoughtfully prepare packed breakfasts, and fresh-cut fruit is also available. The B&B itself is very quiet and peaceful. Downstairs, there's a beautiful coffee shop, making it ideal for those who enjoy peace and quiet or love to read.

We booked 4 rooms this time, with 7 people in our group + 1 child. The rooms are very clean and each has its own character and name. There are tatami beds and double beds. A large tatami bed is specially arranged for children, so they can sleep peacefully 😁. The room is fully equipped with various disposable toiletries and an instant water kettle. I especially like the service 👍🏻. The breakfast variety is much richer than we imagined, including eggs, corn, pumpkin, sweet potato, millet porridge, minced meat noodles, small cold dishes, fruits, and they even made cakes for the children. On the first day we arrived at the B&B, the staff came to meet us and help with our luggage. It was raining, and they reminded us that there were umbrellas available at the door. I also boiled some hot water to drink. There is a big solid wooden table in the lobby on the first floor, with fruits and snacks on it. The children were very happy 😄. The inside and outside of the door are carefully decorated with green plants and hydrangeas, which is very comfortable. The geographical location is perfect for our travel, close to the main road, with parking spaces available. When we don't want to drive, we can take a taxi or stroll into the ancient city for shopping and eating. As soon as I went out, I saw the city wall. I went to see the night view on my last night! This time everyone praised the convenient location.

The price is very high, the hot spring is not big but clean and hygienic, it has local bathing characteristics, the guests are basically regular customers, slow and comfortable. The back is also a major feature. It costs less than 100 yuan to enjoy an hour of squatting, pressing, pinching, and flushing. Basically, they are all done in a deep sleep. Unfortunately, there are too many people in the queue, and I can't wait for more than an hour. I can leave my hope to the next time.

From Beijing high-speed rail 1.5h direct to Datong, stay at Manyue Hotel, the location is awesome! 🚗 12 kilometers from Yungang Grottoes (about 25 minutes by car/taxi), only 3 kilometers from the ancient city (10 minutes by car), take the baby to play more time-saving! Visit the grottoes during the day, visit the ancient city at night, come back and take a bath, the itinerary is perfect Breakfast is super rich: there are freshly made noodles, hot milk, children's tableware, the baby carries the plate to choose food, eat more fragrant than at home! 🚗 Free parking: Self-driving families are super convenient, parking spaces are sufficient, and charging piles are also provided (new energy vehicles are friendly)! 💁 Service is super intimate: the front desk lady is super enthusiastic, helped plan the best route of ”Yungang Grottoes + Ancient City Day Tour”, avoiding the peak of the flow of people, and having a great time! Exclusive children's supplies: children's slippers, toothbrushes, bathrobes, even bath toys! The old mother does not need to carry luggage with large bags and easy travel!

The B&B is located near Taiping Tower. The parking lot is at the entrance of the alley. It is very convenient. The Japanese style is very surprising. The small courtyard also has a landscape of dry landscape. It is very stylish. The facilities are quite exquisite. The big bed room is very comfortable and there is incense on the bedside. Camphor wood, fragrant, helps sleep. You can see the owner's intentions from details such as smart toilets and toiletries. The landlady is very nice, the service is very attentive, the breakfast is also amazing, and it is delivered directly to the room, which is very convenient. Mineral water drinks are waiting in the freezer in the corridor for self-pickup. It is very user-friendly and I am very satisfied. I will come again if I have the opportunity.

For anyone visiting Datong, I wholeheartedly recommend this guesthouse! It was the perfect first stop on my Shanxi trip, and the experience was superb. It truly operates at a high hotel standard; the attention to detail in the rooms was exceptional, even providing mouthwash and laundry detergent. Overall, from its prime location and beautiful interior to the impeccable service from the front desk ladies, everything was faultless. It's clear the owner runs this place with immense dedication and care. Both the exterior and room decor are incredibly stylish. The front desk staff and even the cleaning team were all incredibly friendly and helpful. From the airport pickup upon arrival to their help with luggage near the guesthouse, every detail was so thoughtful. During my stay, the front desk ladies were wonderfully accommodating, often assisting with packages and food deliveries. At checkout, I even received a lovely local Shanxi vinegar as a souvenir. In short, I highly recommend it. Should I return to Datong, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Very satisfied with the whole trip The room is very quiet and clean. It is within walking distance of the core scenic spots. The Dai Wangfu is right next to it, Huayan Temple is a 15-minute walk, and the Nine Dragon Wall is about an 8-minute walk. I think it's not bad. The main point is that the boss is very good, warm and thoughtful. The station drop-off service is very convenient. Also, it’s close to several delicious restaurants! No wonder Datong’s food is delicious. The King of Dai back then brought over a hundred top chefs to Datong to take up their posts.
