Daxinde Tianpindi Homestay

The room was clean. The river right outside was beautiful. There aren't many residences nearby, just two other buildings. The entrance to Detian Waterfall is just 800 meters up the road. We walked there after dinner. In the evenings, you'll find people setting up stalls selling Vietnamese trinkets. It might have been too sunny during the day, as we didn't see any stalls then. The guesthouse owner and staff were all very warm and friendly. They can also help you purchase tickets for the waterfall; otherwise, you'd need to buy them online yourself or at the official ticket counter. The owner arranged adult tickets for 80 CNY and child tickets for 40 CNY.

This guesthouse is perfectly situated right next to the Detian Waterfall scenic area. Surrounded by mountains and water, it offers a truly tranquil environment. The rooms are spotlessly clean, and the hostess provided incredibly warm, hospitable, and attentive service. The food was also absolutely superb! Definitely a five-star experience.

The cleanliness really needs significant improvement. The bathtub, in particular, was quite unsatisfactory; I even found multiple stickers from the previous guest's bathtub liner still attached. The shower area in the bathroom was also grimy and stained. The overall location is a bit remote, situated right on the border, but the surrounding environment is actually quite pleasant. The owner was very friendly and hospitable.

The hotel is located about 800 meters from Detian Waterfall. While it's technically walkable, there's no sidewalk, making the stroll along the road feel a bit dangerous. This is especially true at night, as there are no streetlights, forcing you to rely on your phone's flashlight. The close proximity to the Vietnam border just across the way can also be a little unnerving. If you choose to drive to the scenic area, be aware there's a 30 RMB parking fee per vehicle, which felt like a bit of a rip-off. There are guesthouses directly at the waterfall's entrance; these might be slightly more expensive, but the convenience for sightseeing and dining would certainly be worth the extra cost. The hotel's immediate surroundings lack any amenities. There's a restaurant downstairs where you can grab a meal, but breakfast isn't included. If you do order breakfast, the options are very limited (mainly rice noodles) and quite overpriced. We ended up driving out to eat; we found delicious handmade rice noodles with meat for just 7-8 RMB elsewhere, compared to the 20 RMB charged at the hotel. Cleanliness was just okay. The view from our window was a chicken farm. We found it quite expensive that a single chicken sold there could cost over 400 RMB (at 58 RMB per jin), which is what we'd pay for a decent full meal out. On a positive note, one room we were initially assigned had quite a few dead mosquitoes, but the staff member promptly helped us switch to a different room.

We were a group of nine, occupying two triple rooms, a double, and a single. The owner thoughtfully placed us all on the same floor, which was incredibly convenient. Breakfast was delicious, and the service hours were very flexible. We accidentally misplaced two room cards, but the owner was so gracious and didn't charge us for replacements. A friend raved about the coconut candy at the front desk, and to our surprise, the owner gave us a huge bag of it to take home before we checked out! They even helped us take a group photo!
