The Hydro Hotel

Pleasant friendly staff we arrived early and were allowed in our room before the check in time sorted our transport back to the airport when we were leaving. Excellent and thank you very much for.

Very pleasant stay

We stayed for four nights, this was organised by Just Go Holidays. They certainly found us a nice place to stay, the hotel is just over the road from the beach. Our room (301) was not the largest but looking out at the sea and the boats coming into the harbour, the room had many advantages. All the staff worked well as a team to ensure we had an enjoyable stay, the food was excellent with a good choice at breakfast and evening time.

I booked this hotel for next August through their own website and was sent a confirmation and paid my £125 deposit. They sent me a confirmation email. Then a few hours later sent me a cancellation email saying they had put the wrong prices on their website! Not happy and still waiting for my deposit to be refunded. Beware of booking this hotel!

We had booked to stay at this hotel with Alfa Travel. The first impression was not good as no help was forthcoming with baggage. There are quite a few steps up to the hotel. Check in was swift. I was surprised to be advised that although my room was on the 2nd floor if I pressed the lift button for that floor there would be 8 steps to walk up. Likewise, if I pressed the button for floor 3 I had to walk down 8 steps. Never come across a hotel where the lift stops between floors. Lift was also very small and I would defy anyone to bundle 6 passengers in there as the notice in the lift advised! This hotel is definitely not good for anyone with a mobility problem as the evening entertainment was downstairs too - no lift to it. I was a bit apprehensive about the food from previous reviews on here but we had lovely food. Good choice of cereals, fruit, juices and cooked items on the buffet breakfast. We ordered our dinner choices at breakfast - great idea - the kitchen know exactly what to buy in. There was a 3 course meal every evening with a choice of four things, followed by tea or coffee. More importantly the plates were piping hot - a refreshing change from being served good food on clap cold plates. Apart from the first day, we found the staff extremely helpful. Also, Martin our coach driver was really good and helpful. Thank you everyone.

The hotel is quaint and nicely decorated, making the best of a smallish, dated building. The rooms are adequate, but a tad too cosy with barely enough storage space. The staff are fantastic, everyone friendly and willing to help. The food is exceptional, particularly the excellent choices for each meal. Its location is very useful for whatever part of Douglas you want, and there is a bus stop right outside its door.
