Hotel Arenal Vista Lodge

For those who like to visit Lake Arenal, I'm telling you about a bad experience that I had this weekend at the Arenalvista Lodge hotel so that you take it into account and it doesn't happen to you. From day one we had terrible customer service. They told us that we could arrive at any time without any problem but when we arrived, the reception was closed and we had to wait almost 1 hour for them to check us in and for a change, when they gave us the room, it had a smell like urine , the hot water didn't work and there was no toilet paper. The next day we get up early and go to do the activities, only arriving to sleep at the hotel. We realized that again there is no hot water and that the cleaning of the room was almost non-existent. Well, wanting to rest, we lay down in bed and turned off the light when suddenly we realized that 2 bats were flying in the room. We called the hotel manager to help us remove the animals but his behavior was arrogant and haughty, at all times he told us that it was not possible that the bats were in the room, trying to make us believe that there were no bats and the only thing that What he did was send the guard to verify what was said. The guard did not immediately find the animals and we requested that they change our rooms but the manager told us that there was no availability and that if he could not find the animals he would not give us a room. In order not to tire you out with the story, after half an hour in the room, the bats started to fly and the guard noticed but couldn't get them out. The manager, who realized the error, told us that at precisely that time a room was freed up and that they could make the change for us. We asked the hotel for a refund and they mentioned to us that we had to go through a big administrative process and blah blah blah. In the end we preferred to leave the hotel at 1:30 am when we saw the terrible attention and service. Definitely, first and last time we return to that hotel and I recommend that if you like to visit the lake, look for other nearby options in La Fortuna.
