Hotel Caravel

Very nice hotel not quite in the hustle and bustle of Sorrento so quieter at night, but close enough to walk if needed. There is a regular mini bus service as well which is more convenient but does require more planning and pre booking if you go at a popular time. Our extended tour group was staying across 3 main hotels. The other hotels which I won't name but are close by, while still nice seemed to not match the Hotel Caravel in terms of menu choice, facilities and overall staffing I had family in one of the other hotels so had first hand as well as second hand confirmation of this. Others in our group were stunned at the difference when I gave them a tour of the Hotel Caravel or showed them our menu selection vs their own so I imagine they will feed that back to the tour operator as they paid the same as us for less. Angelo in the restaurant provides a very welcoming and excellent level of service. Going above and beyond to sort out food for you if the menu of the day is not quite to your liking just ask (Typically 5 choices of starter, main and dessert for dinner changing every day, breakfast is a buffet style with plenty of choice). Generally the level of English spoken by staff, especially at reception is enough to get what you want across and understood. Some staff may not be as fluent, more so in the restaurant but its never an issue and you are in Italy after all. I'd highly recommend a stay here if you are visiting Sorrento.

Visited for 1 week with adult daughter. Our room was at the back of the hotel with no balcony. We didn't feel that having no balcony impacted our holiday at all as the view was one we would never tire of and the large windows open wide. The view from the terraces were beautiful and you can watch the sunset over the sea. No noise throughout the night and comfortable bed. Reception efficient and polite. Shuttle bus great. Food lovely and we were full after every meal. A special thanks to Angelo, Antonio, Gihan, Pepper, Rosa and Tonino who made us feel very welcome. It was too cool to go in the pool, but it looks welcoming and clean. Gentle live music in the evening was good after our evening meal. Would heartily recommend.

Spotlessly clean with excellent service and friendly staff. Great location, 5 minutes walk to viewpoints overlooking the sea and 20 minute walk into Sorrento, although the hotel's courtesy shuttle bus can take you in through the day/night. Food varied, plentiful and very good. Nightly music entertainment.

Fantastic hotel, excellent staff, service and accommodation. Nothing to fault. Handy for a walk into Sorrento. Breakfasts were exceptional and set you up for the day. Spotlessly clean and well equipped rooms. Definite for a return visit.

Lovely friendly quiet hotel near enough to Sorrento without the hustle and bustle. I was worried about having 3 adults in one room( our 18 year old came with us) but the room was spacious with a large balcony overlooking Mount Versuvius and very much appreciated and effective air con. All the staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful, particularly Angeleno on arrival at the restaurant and all the hardworking waiters. (How he remembers everyone and their room number is amazing!) Food was fantastic with daily menu changes and choices of local pasta dishes for starters. Minibus transfers to the centre of Sorrento and back were great as it was very hot to walk around, just needed to book in advance at Reception. Swimming pool was immaculate set in beautiful gardens, it was a pleasure to swim at the end of the day when you get back from exploring. Highly recommended hotel for the Sorrento region, we would definitely return. Love from Room 108! X

We holiday in Sant Agnello/Sorrento regularly and had never stayed at this popular hotel until another operator cancelled our holiday and we had to rebook with another. Turned out very well for us and we had a great 2 weeks stay. All staff from reception, the restaurant, housekeeping to the driver are so friendly, chatty and helpful. They make your holiday so much more enjoyable. I moved rooms after the first week to one with a balcony. My error as I thought this is what I had booked. I'd say you definitely need a room with a balcony for a 2 week stay as the rooms without are quite compact with small bathrooms and would only suitable for a few nights stay. The superior rooms are more spacious with more amenities. Breakfast is buffet style and pleasant enough but the food and choice at dinner, for a Sorrento hotel is definitely the best we've ever had. Good choices, large portions (especially the desserts!) and delicious. We only dined in the restaurant about half of the duration of our 2 week stay as there are so many lovely restaurants about and a few places we always visit but we were impressed with the hotels quality of food and wine selection. We prefer the more laid back pace of Sant Agnello and like to stroll the 15 - 20 mins walk through to Sorrento or jump the local bus, but the hotel offers a complimentary shuttle which stops just by Piazza Lauro which only takes 5 minutes and is one of our favourite little squares. It was so handy and efficient. On a few occasions if we had walk through and had been out all day, I whatsapped or called the hotel to arrange a return pick up which was never an issue. The hotel is just a few steps away from Marinella beach, the terrace with the best views over the bay and some very good 5 star hotels for drinks and dinner without having to venture into Sorrento. We didn't use the pool as we don't sunbath but it did look nice. I sat up on one of the roof terraces reading my book which was nice and peaceful with fab views. A few evenings we sat out in the garden by the pool with drinks before dinner. But always remember and use mosquito repellent in Sorrento! The hotel has entertainment on Monday - Friday and the acts were always good, my only issue was that they started at 8pm while most of us were in the restaurant. Seemed such a shame that singers / pianists etc were playing to bar staff only and by the time we finished our meal and came out to sit by the bar we'd only catch the last 30mins if we were lucky. I've already booked Sorrento again for next year to stay at another very good hotel prior to this holiday. If i'd had know how great the staff snd their services were, i'd definitely would have rebooked to stay again at the Caravel.

We loved this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay. Every member of staff in every department was helpful and friendly. The restaurant staff deserve a special mention for their excellent service and for making us feel welcome every morning and evening. Food was very good and there was plenty of choice. The regular minibus into Sorrento was very welcome. The hotel grounds are lovely and the views from the roof terrace are unbelievable. Thank you so much for a wonderful holiday.

My partner & I stayed at this hotel for a two wk holiday, the hotel was fantastic, the rooms were clean & beds very comfortable, all staff were excellent especially the dining room staff, they were all very helpful efficient & friendly. The food was marvellous we usually eat out every night on holiday however the food was so magnificent we only ate out twice. We also brought friends back to the hotel for dinner which was organised wonderfully by Angelo, Pepe, Antonio & the rest of the waiters & waitress. Hotel location was a 30 min walk into centre of Sorrento or you could use the free hotel shuttle bus. I would definitely recommend this hotel & would stay here again.

The hotel was excellent, very clean and well presented. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, including the restaurant team, the reception team. the bar staff, the free shuttle drivers and housekeeping. The food was very good with great choices for breakfast and a four course dinner. They even had a gluten free menu for one of our party. Just one minor observation - I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and my hands have a very weak grip. The cutlery in the restaurant is modern with flat, square handles so the knife stands on edge, which I found very difficult to hold without both knife and fork twisting in my hands. The location was excellent for us, a regular free shuttle into the centre of Sorrento, and within walking distance of Saint Agnello train station. Tip: If you are using the train (frequent and cheap) we recommend taking the shuttle into Sorrento to catch the train there, as the trains are always crowded and you may not get a seat at Saint Agnello. When returning, get off at Saint Agnello and walk to the hotel. Trains run to Pompeii, and stop 50 metres from the entrance to the old city entrance. You can also catch a bus from this station to Mount Vesuvius. Trains do not generally run direct to Herculaneum, you have to change at Torre Annunziata, but the wait is only 6 or 7 minutes.
