Palazzo Gatto Art Hotel Spa, BW Premier Collection

I live in Trapani and I visit Palazzo Gatto when I need to recharge. When I check out, I feel like a new woman. Front desk staff are eager to make your stay the best it can be and promptly solve any problem that may arise. Spa staff are at the top of their field. My favorite treatments are the salt scrubs and decontracting massage.

We spent a week at the Palazzo Gatto. It is ideally sited in the midst of the old town which fills the peninsula of Trapani, next to historic buildings and surrounded by excellent fish restaurants. The staff were welcoming, pleasant and helpful in giving advice about activities, arranging taxis etc. Breakfasts are lovely and the rooms large and comfortable. Altogether a great experience.

I am sorry to post this review but we had a rather strange experience that was not dealt with well by the hotel at all. We had booked for 2 nights only. First night. My partner went to bed earlier than me and I had a late drink just outside in a bar. When I went to the room my partner was asleep. This was approximately 1 am, there was no one at reception at that time. In the room I went to open the bathroom door and the handle came off in my hand. It is a mirrored door with no instructions on whether to push or pull. Anyway there was no way to fix it back into place and there we were without a bathroom! No way to go to the toilet and our medications locked inside. So I went downstairs and still nobody on reception. Went back upstairs and looked the reception number and the emergency number. I called them both. No answer! So I went back downstairs once again. I looked everywhere and eventually found the receptionist in the kitchen listening to a radio show on his phone. Hence why he did not hear the reception phone. He spoke good English and I explained the situation. So we both went upstairs (my wife was still asleep in bed). He also decided it could not be fixed and offered for us to change rooms up to the 3rd floor. OK that was alright but he wanted us to move our luggage there and then and said he would help. By now it is around 2 am, I have a sleeping wife (awake by now) and this was simply not on. I said we would take the room (what else could we do) but that the luggage was going nowhere. Anyway we went to the upper room and was told by the receptionist that it was an upgrade. We actually didn't like it as much at all. But I digress. The next morning the manageress was there and she had heard about the incident and was very apologetic but not giving an inch. Her words were 'These things happen'. At the time I was speaking to her my friend a local from Trapani had arrived at the reception and I didn't want to cause any scene. The next day we were very tired and this affected everything that we did well into the next evening. I'd thought about what had happened during the day and how the hotel had dealt with it. I also mentioned it to some our our Italian fiends who said that they would have insisted on not paying for that night. Anyway it goes on. When we returned late that evening there was a cheap bottle of 7 euro fizzy wine with an apology note. When were we supposed to drink this exactly? We were leaving the next morning back to UK. And carry it? So on checking out I decided that the whole experience had been somewhat of an insult. I wanted to remonstrate with the manageress but she was not there. I placed the bottle of cheap fizzy wine on the reception counter....It is a pity because the hotel was nice and the breakfast was very nice. However the staff need customer training as it is all gloss with no substance. The fancy fittings in the rooms are also suspect.

The hotel arranged our pick up from the airport and warmly welcomed us late at night on arrival. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice of pastries, breads, meats and cheese as well as bacon, eggs etc.

Perfect location. Comfortable and cozy room. Great service. Pity for the Spa which was not available during our stay due to maintenance. Compliments for Giuseppe who shared many suggestions and was very friendly! We definitely recommend this Hotel!

A modern hotel in the historic area of Trapani, which is well placed for a number of top attractions, restaurants and the main shopping streets. Reception staff were excellent and arranged valet parking and take away breakfast on day of departure. We had a 3 night stay and would stay in this hotel again. Good value for money.

This is a modern new hotel with very stylish and comfortable rooms. It's on a very narrow street - our satnav found it impossible to get to! The room we stay had in had no views - the windows literally looked out on a brick wall a few feet away. There is a very pretty roof terrace, but no view was a downside. Trapani itself is ok but probably not worth a visit.
