Quality Inn Escondido Downtown

Service and breakfast- The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good- waffle, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee. The breakfast has to be picked up in the lobby and taken to your room to eat. This is not a good option for anyone traveling with a family. The room does not have a table, just a desk with one chair. So everyone else has to either eat standing or sit on the floor. Room- The room had comfortable beds and looked clean, but my socks told a very different story after walking on the tile ground for 20 minutes. (The bottoms of my socks were black). Bathroom- the toilet did not flush all the way unless you held the handle down until it was done. The shower had a several worn out spots on the bottom. The handle to turn on the shower had reverse controls. The handle had to be pointing to cold to get the hot water. Parking- It was hard to get into as you could only access the lot from one spot that was close to a traffic light. Once inside the parking lot there was plenty of places to park. Unexpected fees- In addition to the deposit they tell you about, they also require a $2 per night, per person cleaning fee. For children the night cleaning fee goes up to $10.

The room was not clean for sure.But the service and the parking was good.

I love the hardwood floors and the bed is always clean and comfortable.

Inside was newly remodeled. Outside needs a lot of help. The parking lot is in serious need of repaving. There is a canal that runs on part of the perimeter and across from that large groups of people gather in the morning and play loud music. I asked the desk what that is about and they said they had no idea it was happening and suggested it might be a big party. I was thinking they were waiting to find work or be picked up for it. SIgnage and lighting is very poor. I arrived in the dark and there is a counterintuitive way to get into the hotel property that is not indicated in navigation instructrions. It is virtually impossible to figure it out unless you know what you are doing. If they would just direct people who are coming for the first time, it would be better. Also, their touted hot breakfast does not being til 8:30!!! And there is nowhere to sit and eat it!! It is all to-go. I could not stay til 8:30 as I had an appoin**ent. I saw that many people had also left. It felt as though they were purposely starting late so that they did not have to provide many breakfasts. Be upfront ahead of time about those circumstances. Nice front desk people, though. They don't make jthe rules. No manager Ralph in sight.

This was a very well decorated and renovated hotel room. I was very impressed with the devir and the floors were updated very nice and clean. The room overall was a 10 out of 10 for me just being a budget hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The staff was welcoming and patient as this was my first trip to California coming from Connecticut. I will definitely be back in the future.

Surprisingly nice place for the price. However, free breakfast is from 8:30 to 10:00, which is fairly ridiculous for anyone who needs to start the day early.

The area around the Quality Inn is a little scary. The staff was very sweet, the room was clean. The only problem is that we were not comfortable with our surroundings. If we had not brought teenagers or children we would have stayed. We checked out after one night and none of our prepaid stay was refunded. We accepted the loss because safety for the children was most important. There is a lot of homeless folks in the immediate area. The staff was great otherwise.

Although the location is not that good, the staff were excellent and the rooms were clean and well maintained. The breakfast was comfortable and well stocked. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. It is centrally located and close to restaurants and Old Town.

Homeless presence and dirty conditions from them. Overall the stay was good with good friendly staff. Not high quality but for the price no real complaints.
