My opinion of the Fairfield Beach Inn was unfairly tainted by its location next to The Seagrape, a popular pub for young adults and Fairfield University students. I took rooms for two nights when my apar**ent nearby needed repairs requiring me to stay away. The first night, because I had a mobility handicap, I stayed in Room 1 on the ground level right next to the hotel office — and right next to the Seagrape. I could not have been more pleased! The room was beachy in decor, so pleasant and clean. I had a bit of a problem with the door leading to the attached private patio, but overall this was a surprising nice room with little if any noise issue from the Seagrape. The second night, I was moved to a room on the second level. Hotel staff cheerfully helped me move my belongings up the stairs to that room. The second room was even sweeter! I enjoyed the kitchettes in each room. The bedding was excellent. I never went to the beach — but I have been on Penfield Beach often and it is a fine beach. Be aware if you stay here that you are close to the beaches, but not much else (except The Seagrape). Fairfield Center with dining and shopping is a five-minute drive away.
