Tru by Hilton Galveston

Convenient and good position Hotel

The breakfast was supposed to be served til 10am. We got there at 0915. No eggs!!! Wouldn't make anymore. Toilet wouldn't flush. Had to adjust the lever. Body was in shower wasn't full. Had to pay $10 for parking.

The location of the hotel was perfect. The check in process was flawless. The room was a bit small with a not so comfy feel to it. The bar and lobby area was top notch. The most disappointing experience was the uncomfortable pillows and the rude encounter with the overnight staff member Izzy. We called down to the desk a few times at around 1:30am to ask for more pillows and did not get answer. We decided to just get out of bed and walk down to the front desk to ask for extra pillows. I told Izzy we'd been calling but no one answered. She told me she was not always working at the front desk. Izzy gave us two pillows without providing pillow cases. She asked us if we needed anything else. I responded by saying "pillow cases." She then stated that she doesn't have any, they were in the back. I asked if she would get them. She said she would have to go a far distance "in the back" to get them. We waited a while for the pillow cases. I'd like to return to the property if I don't have to interact with Izzy. Not welcoming at all.

Many things were great about this property! Great pool and huge lobby. The cons were the beds are not comfortable and the pillows are the worst we’ve ever had in a hotel. The walls are very thin and we could hear everything around us all night. Also the room did not maintain a cool temperature, so I would not want to stay here during the hot Texas summers.

No coffee maker in the room. The room was not the one I reserved and it was half the size of the hotel rooms I normally rent for the same rate.

Very clean, but no matter what time I went by the front desk, no one was ever there and people were waiting. Also, the soap dispensers in the rooms are horrible. You had to squeeze it to death to get any soap. Anyone with arthritis in their hands would not be able to get any soap.

First off if your a germaphobe here is a review from another germaphobe. I only found two things that grossed me out in this hotel. Shower had some hair in it and the bedsheets also had hair. The bedsheets could have just been fallout from the housekeeper making the beds. Wasnt a big deal for me cause I brought my own sheets. Otherwise I was pretty comfortable in the hotel and that says a lot. They were constantly cleaning and I liked that. If you are a light sleeper this is not your place. Road noise, thin walls, kids coming in drunk all hours of the night. I remedied this by buying a fan and sleep with it on the drown out noise. Like other post my balcony view faced the ER and had a catty cornered view of the ocean. I did realize the Tru Hilton and the Hilton Home 2 are connected. So if you want a tru ocean view maybe you did to book that one. Night front desk staff was pleasent. Mid day not so much. Overall I enjoyed the stay and the convience of being near everything.

Very clean and new. Easy check-in. Room was clean but very sparsely appointed. Nice bathroom but very, very low water pressure from shower. You have to know going in there's no microwave, coffee pot or safe in the room. Very, very small fridge low down on the floor. Also they claim 24/7 coffee in the lobby... This is not the case. As long as you know these things going in you will enjoy your stay in this new hotel.
