Savv Hotel

The hotel's location is excellent, right opposite the ferry terminal, just a 5-minute walk away. The deluxe room was spacious with amazing views from the window. Chew Jetty (Clan Jetties) is within a 10-minute walk, and there are plenty of hawker stalls nearby with lots of food options. The only downside was having to pay a deposit, which I haven't encountered in years. They did offer complimentary postcards that could be mailed home for free, which was a lovely touch and I really appreciated it.

The price wasn't cheap during Chinese New Year, but I specifically booked here because I wanted to visit the temple fair. I arrived late at night on the first day, and the front desk was already unstaffed. I had to get the room card directly from the security guard downstairs, and then go to the front desk to register the next day. It's a budget hotel, and surprisingly, the shower stall didn't even have a door, nor a shower curtain 😅. After showering, there was water all over the floor. I didn't book breakfast, but there's a teahouse next to the Surname Bridge opposite the hotel where you can get local breakfast; the stir-fried noodles there are delicious. There's also a nice small eatery on the roadside if you turn left from the hotel.
