Helenekilde Badehotel

Loved this hotel so much. Decor absolutely gorgeous, felt so Danish, overlooking the sea and with sauna with sea views, great breakfast too. Very friendly and helpful host. Relaxed yet uber stylish. Loved it.

Attended a birthday celebration at the hotel. Looked forward to it as we have stayed there before. Was supprised by the unfriendly receptionist who was in no way welcoming. Her behaviour and a few of the older colleagues was horrible. During our stay, she complained openly to other staff members how “we took up the entire grass area” ( for a yoga class) Note that the celebrating couple had booked the entire hotel, so no other guests than us. The children playing hide and go seek made it impossible for them to clean the rooms - which was also voiced in the middle of the hotel as many guests overheard. It would have be a more professional approach if she contacted one of the parentes to bring this to our attention instead of this. She and a few other colleagues made the stay somewhat unpleasant and I do not believe that any of the guests will chose Helenekilde for a similar event.

Great and cozy hotel on the Danish Riviera with fantastic views and surroundings. A perfect get away to take it easy and enjoy some time as a couple, with friends or by yourself. Unfortunately the restaurant service doesn't live up to the location, ambience of the hotel, the views and price of the stay. The food was good but exceptional slow service with constant mistakes during the dinners for example forgetting orders, forgetting cutlery, forgetting bread, forgetting salt & pepper. Eating here will require a lot of patient, but everything else great.

Incredible location, at the top of a cliff overlooking the North Sea. The food was fantastic, the porch was cozy with and unbeatable view. The rooms were clean but not luxurious

I know this hotel well, having grown up north of Copenhagen, and I’ve stayed at their sister hotel, Sanders. So I was looking forward to spending a night in beautiful surroundings in connection with attending a party in the area. Now I wish I’d spent the money on a taxi back to Copenhagen instead. I’d barely been greeted during check-in before I was told (without asking) that there were no tables for dinner or lunch in the restaurant. They were full. Too bad. Luckily I didn’t need one but what a start. Then to the room. It looked like a dorm room, sp****ly decorated and overlooking a parking lot. At DKK 3500 per night. No bedside table, no safe….The bed was also uncomfortable but that’s perhaps a matter of taste. What truly made it impossible to sleep was the fact that you could hear everything anyone said or did in any of the rooms next door. There’s zero insulation. At least I could look forward to breakfast, I figured. Wrong again. It’s the leanest breakfast buffet I have ever come across, and you got the impression that the hotel is trying to save as much money as possible. Not a croissant or a pastry in sight. I was informed I could have some jam for my bread if I wanted anything sweet. Lol. I ran into some other friends from abroad, who’d also stayed here for the party, and they mirrored my impressions. A total rip-off. Terrible rooms. Terrible service. The views are good (if you don’t get the parking lot) but you can have those by going to the beach. Don’t stay here.

We had booked a dinner at Helenekilde Badehotel through its sister hotel, Sanders, where we were staying in Copenhagen. We spent the day sightseeing north of Copenhagen and then drove over for our 8pm dinner reservation. When we walked in and mentioned we had a dinner reservation, the woman at the desk looked panicked. She explained that because they (and other area hotels and restaurants) were having trouble finding enough serving staff, they had cancelled dinner reservations for our night and had made calls to all of their dinner guests to let them know. She was horrified that we had not received a call (it may have gone to Sanders instead), but immediately got to work, calling every restaurant in the area to find us a table. After about 20 minutes, she found one for us. In the meantime, she let us look around the pretty hotel and was kind enough to take some pictures of us. She could not have been more friendly and helpful, and the hotel and the beach were just beautiful. She sent us off with profuse apologies and we drove off to our restaurant - the Restaurant Sletten in Humlebaek. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were surprised and delighted to find it had received a Michelin Star and we knew we were in for something special. The dinner was fantastic, the setting was so beautiful, and we felt so grateful to the very kind woman at Helenekilde Badehotel for her diligent and thoughtful work to find us a table on a Wednesday at a late hour and the delightful surprise that dinner turned out to be. She turned the proverbial lemon into lemonade! We hope we'll have an opportunity to visit and stay at the Helenekilde Badehotel sometime and to see and thank this very kind woman.

The view from the outdoor dining is a sweeping view over the ocean and a private beach is just steps away down a nearby path after you grab a complimentary robe in the lobby. The women at the front desk are kind, warm people who went out of their way to be helpful- helping with the bikes (which are great for the 5-minute ride into town or 8 minutes to the terrific beach), making dinner reservations and even checking a movie time for us. There are numerous lovely places to curl up and read in the cozy public rooms as well as outdoors including a rooftop deck. I'm sending all my friends here!

Everything was great except the rooms were very small, bathrooms also very cramped. Restaurant dinner and service was excellent? Front desk person very helpful and friendly.
