NnigelchenOverall, my stay was incredibly comfortable and met the high service standards I've come to expect from InterContinental.
The room was quite spacious, featuring a separate walk-in closet. The bathroom had a mirror TV, a feature I'd seen before at the W Hotel in Guangzhou and The Niccolo in Changsha. However, the mirror TV in my room had a picture but no sound, suggesting it was broken and hadn't been repaired. The mini-bar was equipped with a capsule coffee machine and a refrigerator. There were only two large coffee mugs, but no smaller cups more suitable for the portion sizes from the capsule coffee machine. The TV in the room was a Sony, of a fairly average size, but the clarity was good. It also came with a BOSE sound system and a power management system, allowing for music playback even when not watching TV. The glass desk had a leather mat, which was a very thoughtful touch. In some hotels with glass-top desks, the mouse doesn't work well, and I've had to borrow a mousepad from the front desk.
However, there were a few inconveniences regarding the room's setup. Firstly, the desk was too far from the TV, and there was no HDMI port, making it difficult to cast from my own laptop. Secondly, the automatic curtain switch was located by the window instead of by the bedside, which was inconvenient to use.
The service was excellent. From the moment I arrived, staff helped with luggage. The check-in process at the front desk was very smooth, and they patiently answered my questions. Housekeeping was very prompt. They also provided complimentary soft drinks, fruit, and tickets to a performance. The performance itself was a bit far from the hotel, and while the content was average, it wasn't boring. If your schedule isn't too packed, it might be worth checking out.
Cleanliness was generally good, though I did find some invisible-to-the-eye but touchable stains in the bathtub when I gave it a quick clean myself upon arrival. Otherwise, no issues.
The hotel's location is excellent, very close to the Exhibition Center, a ten-minute taxi ride away. Public transport is also very convenient; the subway entrance is right outside the main gate, with access to lines 7 and 4. MixC Mall is just one stop away. As you'll realize when you see the red traffic jams on the map, sometimes taking the Hangzhou subway is more convenient than driving. From the second floor of the hotel, you can walk out a back door directly to the Outlet Mall and City Terrace, avoiding external roads with traffic lights, which is great for shopping or taking a stroll.
The gym and pool on the hotel's top floor are open 24 hours. Neither the pool nor the gym is very large, but there's a good selection of exercise equipment.
