Very nice ambiance, sharp staff team and perfect environment. Always impressed when people manage a good hotel resort lodge so extreme far away from the rest of the world. Namibdesert in Gandwana is about 35 to 40 degrees celsius as we arrive, the reception is alert and sharp. Service great and beer cold. Evening diner was good. Way above average. Breakvast simple with care and good. Only missed the sausages. Evening view splendid. If ever you should spend here a couple of days and do the trail early morging. The evening, night, mornig...great silence you can hear the birds fly.

I cant speak more highly of this lodge, withthe absolute highest praise to Charles, who was incredible and went above and beyond any kind of help we could have asked for. Our car was stuck on the side of the road in the middle of seemingly nowhere, and we were able to get a ride to this lodge to seek help. I was really worried about the situation, and thought this would become a big ordeal, but as soon as we arrived and spoke with Charles, he fixed everything. We couldnt have asked for a more gracious staff member who did everything he could to help us get back on track to fix the situation and offer various solutions. It was the most unparalleled experience I have ever had travelling. He offered as much reassurance as he did help. The lodge itself is stunning, all the staff were so kind and attentive. The restaurant was lovely, and the food was delicious. All this aside, I still cant speak more highly of Charles, who truly saved our trip. I would highly recommend this place to absolutely anyone, and am extremely grateful x a million to have met Charles.

The rooms are clean and equipped with everything one needs, the location is astounding, and the whole area is impeccably maintained. The real highlight of this place and our stay was the staff. In this regard, a special mention goes to Timo and Milencia - they were kind and thoughtful. Ps: Milencia has a heavenly voice, but she’s too shy to sing.

Stayed 2 comfortable and enjoyable nights during an Epic Road Trip, which spanned the length and breadth of the Country. Excellent Location, Setting & Outlooks (vistas), good Food, Beverages and Service in general (enthusiastic and willing rather than polished). Room allocated was in a great position right on the front looking-out towards their pool, but minute. Us and the Double bed filled it. No room for Luggage and we were traveling super lite. Terrific scenery & rock formations abound both in their grounds and the area, as do Dassies (Rock Hyraxes) - I counted 90 one evening There is little to do in the Area apart from visiting the Fish River Canyon. Despite the Name it is not close-by. 40+ minutes there and same back. A visit to the Visitor Centre was Out as it was Locked-up tight. The Look-out Point had some níce and quite spectacular Vistas. But once you have visited (walked or driven to) the Hikers & Sunset Viewpoint – you’re done. The Option of driving into and down to Ais-Ais (Canyon floor) did not appeal since that was allegedly a further 2 hours drive each way. We kept that for the next time & will stay on the West-side. This time, the East suited since we were then headed for Grunau, Karasburg, & the SA Border post at Onseepkans

Loved this hotel. After a nightmare with Lufthansa and a very long delay, we had to drive a full day to get here from Windhoek. We arrived just as the sun was setting. Check in was swift. Our room was amazing, there are two bungalows which have boulders in the rooms. Ours was one of them and had stone steps down into the cave with a large bath. Unfortunately I don’t remember which number room we had. But the staff will advise via email. Our son had a double bed surrounded by boulders and he said it was like sleeping in a cave. It’s hard to describe but I felt like we were staying in Fred flintstone’s house. It was spacious and cosy despite being in a cave house. The food which was mainly buffet style was excellent. Good choice of dishes and you can go up as much as you want. Very good standard. We opted to do the sunset walk and have a drink on top of a vista with a beautiful view. The guide was knowledgeable. There is a walk to the pool, but worth it, such an amazing view. It was quiet by the pool when we visited so plenty of loungers. On leaving our battery was flat on our car and the guys there helped us start it. Staff were friendly and helpful.

First rate lodge set in stunning surroundings near Fish River Canyon. Great dinner and breakfast buffet and vegetarian options. Excellent wine selection. Pool surrounded by massive red boulders and an option to hike up to catch the sunset. Rooms large and spotless with air conditioning. Staff delightful and there is a good shop.

This is a spectacular place. The chalets are comfortable and set back into a rocky outcrop overlooking the veld/dry river bed with free roaming antelope. We were welcomed by a host of small animals - Hyrax, ground squirrels & birds. The staff made my birthday extra special that evening! We would like to thank the chef, who rose early to provide us with a tasty breakfast package, complete with snack and juice. We had to leave super-early to travel. That's service! We can recommend the Gondwana collection lodges. What we liked about it, was that it was a short trip to the Fish River Canyon, but also provided a different type of experience in terms of accommodation. Not to mention the nearby Canyon Road House on the way! Also something to behold, especially for car lovers. Lovely pool area as well. Comfortable pathways make getting from and to your chalet easy (especially for older people). Also, they had good coffee! Something we did not always get.

Stayed here for two nights as part of a three week road trip. Lovely little chalets among the boulders, with some boulders actually incorporated into the walls. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped. Food was really excellent, with special shout out to the service at dinner, especially from the bar manager when we wanted to order local wine. The meat on the buffet (dinner is starter and dessert served at table and main course as a buffet) was outstanding and overall the quality (both food and service) at all meals, including breakfast was excellent. The restaurant / bar area has so many nice little decorative touches with farm implements, tools, old electrical equipment and all sorts of memorabilia on display. The gardens are very pretty and well kept and the terrace outside the bar was a very pleasant place to sit any time of day. We did the free sundowner walk up the rocks at the back of the lodge which was excellent and the morning drive to Fish River Canyon with a short walk along the edge and drive to the viewpoints and I would recommend both.

We stayed here for a couple of nights and were fortunate to be allocated a wonderful room facing west, giving us a perfect view of the setting sun from our doorstep. It was wonderful to open the curtains and door in the morning and with a cup,of tea watch the skies turn blue. The individual chalet’s were very comfortable and surrounded by various wildlife. Staff were friendly, dinner and breakfast excellent and the tour guide who took us to Fish River Canyon entertaining and knowledgeable. A fantastic place and one we would have happily stayed a couple of additional days.
