I highly recommend this place. The room is spacious and clean. The food was excellent, especially the burger night and continental breakfast. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back on my next work trip. The burgers with bacon and stilton are priced at £7.50, but it's best to confirm when booking.

I stayed at the Maypole in Wellow last week, with my husband. The rooms were beautiful and, given the price, represented outstanding value for money. We love nature and the hotel is really well placed to enjoy walks at the RSPB reserve at Budby Common, Sherwood Forest as well as Rufford Abbey. Morgan and Julie and the rest of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a drink outside in the sun, on the terrace. My husband enjoyed locally made Sting Cider. The food in the restaurant was excellent. We ordered from the a la carte menu, however, the bar menu for lunch was also superb. Overall, a beautiful boutique hotel in the village centre, perfectly located for countryside walks, friendly service and outstanding value for money.

Picked the location to avoid the A1 as a base post work. Not disappointed. Receptionist Lauri was welcoming and attentive and multi tasked serving in the bar later. The hotel has 2 differing bedroom scenarios I was allocated the motel style rooms adjoining one side of the car park. Advantage here for those who always leave something in car ...it's only 6 feet away! Not half hour trek. Room was furnished to high standard, bedding pristine white. Only negative only a stool to sit on, no chair. The solution however, may be at hand outside bedroom door so long as chair legs are cleaned l Bathroom gets full marks, shelves recessed above wash basin and even in shower for those who bring their own soaps etc. Shower controls do not require the ambidextrous skill of a helicopter pilot nad steamed up glasses, to avoid scalding, unlike a large number of other hotels. Thought the rating would drop when I found that the restaurant only does bar meals... (with A La Carte Thurs-Saturday) best check if booking a Sunday. Had done a hard days physical work was looking forward to a feeeed! Ordered chicken Southern fried and chips and negotiated peas instead of shallots. Had my misgivings shot down.... what was served was superb I have not had chips which I assume are described as whole potato before and will seek them out in future. All good so far so went for a walk to see the Maypole and as it is next to the Olde Red Lion pub went and tried their beer not disappointed. Front entrance looks shut as the main entrance is around to the side. Local cricket team had kept the establishment open at their request, as weekdays may shut 20.30. So England as it should be is still to be found come soon to avoid disappointment. Back to the Maypole for nightcap and was introduced to Stella unfiltered on draught is now on my accredited list.

We visited on 02/03/24 a table of 12. Service, Food and cleanliness all very good. No delays even with 12 to serve. All meals arrived correct as ordered and hot. Very impressed. Nice modern decor inside the bar and restaurant. Excellent place and food!

Ideal location for visits to local site seeing sites. The room was perfect for our needs, cleaned every day with fresh towels provided. We paid for breakfast, which was more than adequate. We ate in the restaurant two nights. The food on offer was good value for money. The bar was well stocked although it did close early some nights while we were there.

Stayed for the first time, and was very impressed with the room and food available in the bar every evening. Started the week with a lovely lasagne, enjoyed the pie evening with a lamb and mint option. Finished the week off with fish and chips. Great value and friendly staff.

Went for Saturday lunch which was a rather odd experience. The food was actually very good and enjoyable. Good portion sizes and tasty. Service was good and the people were really nice. The odd bit is that it appears to be set up more as a hotel breakfast room than a cosy restaurant, and has a really limited menu. That said there was enough on the menu for our party of four to have a choice, just probably not enough for most people. We were the only ones in there for a while and we saw one couple come in and exit, having apparently decided it was too quiet. Shame, because with a bit of decor change and menu enhancement it could be quite nice.

We have been twice this month as part of a large group for birthdays and the food is spectacular. The pies are the best we have ever had and the home made chips are amazing. Staff including the Chef go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and the settling is lovely. Excellent service by all. Thank you
