Why 3 stars? The food. The hotel is lovely, the rooms are great, the staff are super and helpful but the food, if Sunday evening is anything to go by needs urgent attention. I had roast beef, which was cooked perfectly, however it was served with par boiled carrots and parsnips ( were they meant to be roasted but never got that far?). I ate the carrots as I don't mind them crunchy, but I couldn't cut the parsnips so left it. It was served with a couple of roast potatoes that were clearly bought in pre cooked and managed to be soggy on the outside and hard inside at the same time, quite an achievement!. There were also two similar coloured pureed vegetables served with it,I'm not sure what they were, but they had no flavour and an unpleasant texture. My wife had gnocchi, which she described as unremarkable. For desert I ordered STP. This appeared to be a slice of ginger cake covered in a sauce made of sugar, butter and cream, but it hadn't caremelised so just tasted of creamy sweet butter. The breakfast was a more please t affair with lots of choice, but we were surprised to be charged extra for a cooked breakfast when paying the bill, when it was not made clear that this was extra at any time during breakfast. Would we be back? Hopefully if the food improves!
