Charter House

We stayed 6 night in Charter house. Everybody was so friendly, owner & housekeeper. So clean the apar**ent. Quiet space. Thank you. See you soon. 😁🏝️

When I got there, there was a crowd of people outside the "office" bummed out because they were being turned away, all on their phones calling whoever they booked through. I finally got in and there were people asking over and over if they had a room, being told no, no ,no. Finally, they told me they actually had a room for me. Dealing with the people in the "office" was easily a 10+ on the awkward scale. The room was ok on a good day, no carpets or rugs of any sort, i was there for 3 nights and there was no maid service, no phone, and after a night of "hmmm what is that??", I finally pinpointed the smell that was on the sheets and pillows - it smelled like kitty litter. It has a great location, but I think staying there did have a negative impact on my vacation. I actually tried to get a room at Margeritaville for the last night but it would have been $820.00 so I endured ...

DO NOT BOOK HERE! I went on a cruise, booked a room beforehand so I could have a room to stay in after we got back. I booked online through the CHARTER HOUSE WEBSITE, called an hour before check in to see if I could check in early at all, only to be told that I did not have a reservation there at all and that I should call my credit card company to get it figured out/reversed. I then went there in person, the second I walked through the door there was another person there having the same issue through **********. They gave me the same advice and told me that as long as I hadn't been charged for it yet I would be okay. No place to stay, but I would be okay. Then after asking them why my reservation didn't go through they all told me that I couldn't book online to book through the charter house. THE WEBSITE HAS A LINK THAT SAYS BOOK NOW! I asked why even have a website if you can't use it to book anyways, the man told me I should delete it. In the end, the solution was to give me a room for the night and screw over the stack of 3-5 other people who were going to stay there tonight who the man at the counter had printed out! They knew about people not going to have a room! I REPEAT, DO NOT BOOK HERE! Holiday beach hotels, the actual chain that has a large amount of hotels, are far nicer, actually let you see what they have online and book online, and will not lie to you and/or screw over another person!

First, the owner of this place is a very rude person, not someone that should own this motel. I called him several times, he was useless and on top of it, he hung up the phone in the middle of the conversation. The lady that works on the front desk has no clue, she doesn't know anything, she just transfers the calls to that rude owner, and everything goes sideways from there. When we checked in, the owner came to the desk and shouted "don't forget to charge him parking", luckily I heard that and told them that we don't have a car. However, they do charge a resort fee and for what??? This is not a resort, it's just a very dirty smelly motel that doesn't offer anything but a very rude "owner" and bad and dirty rooms, so why do they charge a resort fee?? Let's talk about the room. From the moment you enter, you will realize you made a mistake, the floor is dirty, the ac doesn't work, no Wi-Fi (when I called to ask why the Wi-Fi doesn't work, that owner said "I will send someone to show you how to connect", what a bad communication from him). The restroom is dirty and disgusting, I was going to the restroom in the bar next to it, it was way cleaned, there are no toiletries in this motel, if you decide to stay here (PLEASE DO NOT STAY, AVOID), bring your own things. The bed is extremely uncomfortable, don't count on sleeping here, you will end up with back pain, sleep on the ground, or even better, DO NOT stay here, avoid this motel, stay as far as possible from here. At last, I've traveled to almost 70 countries in the world and all 50 states in USA, I've never experience something like this, no communication with the very rude and bad for business owner, and falsely advertised motel, it's a bad place to a wonderful Hollywood beach, I will come to Hollywood Beach again, but I will make sure I don't make the same mistake and stay here. If you ask for my advice, do not book this place, not even for one night, no one deserves the struggle. ZERO STARS!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

I regularly travel to Miami and Hollywood, Each time I try different places. This time was the absolute worst experience that I have ever had. Starting with the “manager” I called to inform them that I would require a late check-in due to some unexpected afternoon work on my travel day. He harshly told me they would be unable to check me in if I was late and then hung up on me. Luckily I was able to make it with a half hour to spare, he and a lady discussed in Spanish my accommodations and then gave me my room information. There is limited parking at the Charter House and they stated I may have to bring my car back the few blocks to park in the other properties lot. I chose this site due to its location and easy access to the area. With a parking fee, you would expect parking to come with that. The room was the worst that I have ever stayed in, dirty, windows that would not shut, a window air conditioner that was loud, damaged tiles, and appliances that did not work or were not able to be plugged in. If it had not been so late we would have just left and got another room somewhere else. I knew arguing with the manager would not get me anywhere. Do not stay at this place, the roadway would have been better. We never did get the hot water to work, so cold showers were all we had to work with. Thank goodness that it was close to the beach, the showers there were warmer. This property should be shut down by the county for health code violations.

When we booked this hotel the description stated that to check in at the sister hotel first and the front office closes at midnight. Our flight was scheduled to arrive at 10pm. The day of our trip, our flight was delayed one hour and since this would have us arriving near midnight I called to confirm someone would still be there to check us in. The receptionist stated they closed at 10pm and nobody would be there to check us in. This was the first Saturday of Spring Break week and one of the busiest travel days of the year. No airline could get us into Fort Lauderdale any earlier and I advised the receptionist we had to cancel. The receptionist stated that she would cancel our reservation but my credit card was still charged for the stay!

This is the worst hotel experience I ever had. I hate to leave a bad review, but I feel I have to, to warn people of this place. First they sent me to a wrong room, with twin bed. No big deal, mistakes happen, but when I called the front desk, person who introduced himself as owner was very rude, yelled at me and blamed me for telling them it was for one person, which is not true - I booked queen suite and paid $200 not including the $15 resort fee. They eventually moved me to another room, but this left a bad taste in my mouth - horrible customer service. Little did I know it was only the beginning. The room was filthy, there was used soap in the shower with hair on it! My feet were dirty after walking barefoot from bathroom to bed. There was an empty roll on toilet paper. Missing floor tiles, dirty and broken blinds. AC was so loud I had to turn it off in order to sleep. I'm not entirely sure sheets were clean considering all other things. I can't believe a place like this exists and they have a nerve to charge this kind of money for it. Horrible, please stay away. Location is great, but that is it. Thankfully I only had to stay one night. Note that any good reviews you'll find for this place are from 2016 and prior. Maybe it was great back then.

We arrived early from a cruise and were dropped off by Uber. The office was in a different location a few blocks away. Was supposed to open at 11 am. A line formed at 11. They tried to charge my husband when the room was prepaid. They were going to add a resort fee but he said he wasn't paying it. I'm glad we only stayed one night! The only good thing about this place was the location close to the beach. The tile floor was so dirty our feet were black and we had to wash them and wear flip flops. No washcloths. The towels were so old you could practically see through them! The tv was on when we got there, maybe because neither remote turned it off, finally just muted to sleep. I would not recommend this place!

I do not understand most of the reviews this property has received. It is a money grabbing operation and deserves no more than a 0 rating. There is a hefty resort fee although there are no amenities: no pool, no gym, no wifi, no free parking, no hairdryers or iron on request. There is a daily fee for parking in their lot. Their parking lot is strewn with garbage and their courtyard, stairway and balcony are filthy. Our “suite” had missing floor tiles, 2 bedside lamps that did not work (although reported to the front desk, they were never fixed during our week long stay) and an old rusty AC which was so noisy that it was difficult to sleep. This property is a dump, not well maintained, and management provides very poor service. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.
