How do I put it? It was like experiencing domestic helper accommodation during our Hong Kong trip, which certainly added an interesting and memorable story to tell. Given it was Chinese New Year, I'm grateful to the owner for accommodating us at a price of 610, and they were quite enthusiastic. However, the moment we stepped into the room, it was truly shocking. My partner and I spent a long time debating, and only went back to sleep at 11:30 PM, just throwing ourselves onto the bed feeling gross. The next day, we rushed to Zhuhai to give ourselves and our clothes a thorough clean. For those from mainland China who are used to chain hotels, and if your budget for Chinese New Year doesn't exceed 1000 RMB, absolutely do not stay in Hong Kong. Even with a 1000 RMB budget, try to stay in more distant areas like Tuen Mun or Tsuen Wan.

This hostel was truly a bizarre experience. We first went to the address on their homepage, on the 13th floor, and wanted to see the room. The owner said we couldn't because the previous guests hadn't checked out yet. We returned around 8 or 9 PM after exploring Hong Kong, and then someone led us to another building. The hallway was very narrow, like something out of an 80s refugee building. The main issue was that the bathroom in the room had a completely transparent glass door with no curtain, making it impossible to shower or use the toilet. On top of that, the bedsheets and duvet cover hadn't been changed; they lacked that fresh linen smell, clearly having been used by someone else. Initially, the owner refused to let me cancel, only offering a refund at 11 PM. I couldn't possibly go find another hotel with my child at that hour. The owner then 'upgraded' us to a deluxe king room. I understand space is at a premium in Hong Kong, but a hostel should at least meet basic accommodation standards.

The map was quite accurate, and when I got close, I called the owner who gave me directions, making it easy to find. The owner was super nice, and the room was truly excellent value for money. The sheets and duvet covers were new and clean, with a fresh laundry scent. The family room was also spacious enough for four people. The location is fantastic and convenient, very close to the MTR station, with plenty of food options nearby. Hong Kong is notorious for small, expensive hotels, and I had some reservations after reading negative reviews. But the room type I stayed in was genuinely great. For such an affordable price, staying at a place with such great value and still leaving a bad review seems a bit harsh. If I visit Hong Kong again, I'd definitely consider staying here, and I'd recommend it to other travelers too!
