The Mountain Courtyard Thekkady

Pros Ambience is good and space is full of greenery. We missed the hi-tea but it had a good setup. Dance perfor***ce was ok not that great but can watch. Had a good time in bonfire although weather was comparatively hot for bonfire. Breakfast spread was superb and tasty CONS Last 300 mtrs road is not good. For reaching to lift you have to climb 15 stairs which is tough for elderly people Hi tea should have been on a later time like 5-6

The mountain courtyard offers a great setting for spending quality time with family and friends. This resort is a bit far from the center (approx. 4 KM) and the road leading to it is in dire condition. Numerous potholes with steep and narrow turns. But once you enter the resort, everything will be forgotten. The room was generously sized with a large washroom and balcony. We received an upgrade to the villa which was a nice gesture. The hi-tea was bit disappointed as it was served with a single snack. I believe this is a prevalent practice in Kerala as I have encountered similar instances in Munnar and Kovalam too. We had high expectations because most resorts northern India serve several snacks and eatables with tea/coffee. Their activity room in the basement was another disappointment. The room appeared to have a haunting aura due to the lack of maintenance and upkeep of indoor games. Their food was excellent and provided ***y North Indian options for dinner and breakfast. The staff was extremely attentive and supportive. The overall experience was pleasant, but there is room for improvement in the connecting road and activity room maintenance.

We booked for 4 nights for 4 couples at The Mountain Courtyard but at 10pm the evening before I received an email to say that due to a 'technical fault' we would need to spend two of our nights at the sister hotel, Forest Canopy, just 1km away. Although frustrating, this turned out for the best as the Forest Canopy staff and dining experience is far superior. The rooms at Mountain Courtyard are good - we had a studio - and the surroundings are pleasant. Where the hotel falls down is the standard of service. Staff are not particularly pleasant, nor attentive and not well trained. They really need to take lessons from their sister hotel where the staff can't do enough for the guests.

A good property in interior place. Due to cyclonic weather could not enjoy fully. Provided extra amenities like outside tea, dance programme and bonfire for entertainment. Rooms are ok staffs are helpful.

Mountain courtyard hotel This was our very first to Thekkady, one of Kerala’s may hilly destinations. A day before our departure from Delhi we found we were unhappy with the hotel we had booked. ..we frantically searched for alternatives and chanced upon Mountain Courtyard. In the heart of Kumily forest , It was a 6 hour plus drive from Kanyakumari and we were absolutely fagged out. But as the hotel emerged through a rough climb , we were in for a pleasant surprise….it was lush green all around surrounded by mountains in the distance, we were shown to our room on 4th floor with a com***ding view. The room was clean, running hot water, clean linen , immediate attention and service by the staff ( I write all this because no basic amenities are to be taken for granted in these remote tourist places, we have been shocked by the lack of things like soaps, proper towels and basic cleanliness in some non budget hotels) but the hotels single biggest USPis the staff and service. They keeled over backwards to please us. The very first day as I got friendly with a couple of waiters I mentioned I hadn’t come to Kerala to eat pasta, paneer and paranthas, and I hoped the hotel served at least a couple of authentic Kerala dishes. Thereafter I was informed at every meal, the Kerala dish of the day, aapam , puttu, banana fritters, kuzhakatta, payasam, ellai adda, etc etc. thoroughly spoilt and pampered. The day I felt under weather and did not go to the restaurant, there were several inquiries and several offers to send light ‘ patient’s food. Bless these people and their sincerity. We had no regret spending an un precedented 9 days in the resort. It was peaceful,comfortable and very well serviced.

Fantastic stay at Mountain Courtyard. A beautiful peaceful location high up surrounded by nature with helpful staff, good food and comfortable rooms. There is plenty to do in the area a well as in house entertainment

I stayed in Hotel for 1 night with my parents who are Senior Citizen and one of them have difficulty in walking or climbing stairs. I had called the hotel beforehand to check whether the room that I was selecting which is Forest Flame can be reached out easily and is wheelchair accesible. They said yes. But when I reached the hotel, they gave a upgraded room (Banyan) which was on ground level. However, it didnt have a great view. So i insisted on giving me my originally booked room which is Forest Flame room, but that point I got to know that we need to climb some 15 stairs and then reach to the lift which would take you on upper floors where this room is. I felt there is an architectural issue for not having the lift on the base level. This is not at all comfortable for senior citizen. Also for the breakfast and the dining room is on the higher level (not ground level), for which one has to climb stairs.I seriously feel the owner has not given a thought about the comfort of senior citizen My parents still mustered the courahge to climb the stairs as and take the Forest Flame as it made sense for the view perspective and dining/breakfast perspective. However, the ***ager was resisting to provide me Forest Flame room and instead was giving me Tamarind which is lower grade room. When I told him that on your Website the Forest Flame is a particular room which has big balcony and I need that room as I saw that and booked on this basis, he told me that is some other room and not Forest Flame, to thi I countered then fix your own website as it is misinformation. Finally they gave the Forest Flame room as seen on the website. For the room, it had a good forest view and windows and balcony arounf 2 walls. The courtyard of the hotel was filled with beautiful birds in early morning, and I saw so ***y rare birds there. The dinner and breakfast was really great. Their cinnamon rolls are best. The hotel is some 4km away from forest gate but its not too far and good to say. The hotel is really big with a swimming pool and sitting lounge near the pool. Except for the concern for the senior citizen and the behavior of the front desk , rest was good

1. Road to the resort is pathetic as if you are going to a graveyard.. they call it Mountain Courtyard Road but can not develop it since it is govt road. 2. Food is way below avg be it bf or dinner 3. Staff was excellent full marks to them 4. Resort was good but location was not ok about 7 km away from the city 5. Spa - very bad experience, exorbitant prices, my local salon will do much better job at through away prices

Good place to stay but not a value for the money. Could have more amenities for the money which we paid. Otherwise the service was good and friendly staffs and good ambience and nice food. Stayed there for two nights. Loved the pool and campfire.
