Old japanese house in a small village. Very very cool. The hosts will pick you up from the Iiyama station. Very helpful. Very generous. Strongly recommend. :)

I stayed for one night in early October. The hostel is a traditional Japanese home with tatami floors and futons. The couple run the hostel out of their house. They offer pickup from the train station and are fairly sociable. It was enjoyable talking to them but not so much that it was intrusive. The house got a bit cold at night however the futon was very warm and comfortable. I highly recommend it if you are traveling in Nagano and want to stay in a traditional Japanese home with friendly hosts.

There are only rice fields near the inn. In a quiet place, swans will also come flying in.
The accommodation is clean. The kitchen and cutlery are all lent out, so you can eat like you would at home if you bring your own ingredients.
The bathroom is only a shower, so if you are aware of that and take advantage of it, I don't think you will have any complaints.
The owner and his wife are from the Kansai region and were very good at talking to us about various things. They were people I would like to meet again.
