"This hotel is really nice and conveniently located right on top of Sakura Machi mall, so there are plenty of food options and shops for shopping.
Right across the street is a pedestrian street, which is great for walking around. It’s not too crowded, so the atmosphere is quite relaxed.
There’s also a major bus stop right downstairs, which makes it super convenient—especially if you don’t have a car. If you’re traveling between cities, this is likely a main stop you’ll pass through.
For those who drive, you can find parking nearby. The hotel may offer parking discounts at certain locations, but I’m not entirely sure which ones.
The hotel itself is beautiful, modern, and smells really nice—feels new and well-maintained. Amenities are quite complete as well.
The bed and pillows were just okay, slightly leaning towards the uncomfortable side. However, the bathroom is excellent, with a separate standing shower and a small bathtub. The room I got was also quite cute, with a small sofa area, which was a nice touch."

"Facilities: The hotel, built in 2021, is quite new. I stayed on the fifth floor, and they have ice makers and water dispensers, so it's fine even if your room doesn't come with complimentary water. This is also the only hotel where you can add an extra bed and the room is 40 square meters. They even allow luggage storage until my next stay. I've checked with all the surrounding five-star hotels, and they either have small rooms, expensive rooms, don't allow extra beds, or can't store luggage for an extended period. This is truly a major highlight!
Hygiene: I have to complain about the hygiene. In room 507, the bathroom sink had no cover, and there were many tiny flying insects inside. I sprayed mosquito repellent here, and it was only when I saw many dead insects at the opening that I realized the issue. My son even got bitten and had bumps on his chest.
Environment: It's super convenient, only 150 meters from Hakata Chikushi-guchi. Yodobashi Camera is right across the street, so you can shop 'til you drop! There are also many convenience stores nearby.
Service: The breakfast selection isn't huge, but it's fine for a one-day stay. I highly recommend the breakfast coffee – it's very rich."

"Because my bookings were split, my second reservation was for a superior room instead of a deluxe room. However, since it was on a higher floor, the bathroom odor was gone. The room was slightly smaller than the deluxe, but still acceptable. So, I'd recommend trying to get a high-floor room if possible. The parking lot near the hotel is excellent, costing 1200 yen from 3 PM until 11 AM the next day. You can ask the hotel for a discount coupon. When checking out, insert the parking ticket first to calculate the fee, then insert the discount coupon, and finally pay with cash. The ramen shop across from the hotel is quite good too."

"As is typical for Japan, the hotel rooms are small. However, the location is absolutely fantastic! There are drugstores and a food street right downstairs. Plus, there are buses directly outside the hotel that go to Kumamoto Airport, Fukuoka Airport, and downtown Fukuoka. You can ask the front desk for the bus schedule when you check in."

1. The hotel is directly opposite Kumamoto Castle, making it very convenient for sightseeing. It's also close to Kumamoto's Kamimachi area.
2. The views are excellent. From the 10th-floor restaurant, you can see Kumamoto Castle, and there's a free self-service beverage machine for unlimited drinks.
3. The room size is generous; a 26-inch suitcase can open completely. The facilities are new and very clean, and the service is good.
Cons:
The streets are very dark at night, and it's quite a distance to the nearest convenience store."

"Staying at OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts was a truly delightful surprise! The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a bustling shopping district in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. What impressed me most was the exclusive outdoor viewing terrace – I could sip coffee while gazing at the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, and both the daytime and nighttime views were absolutely captivating. The room design, with its warm wooden tones and modern feel, was thoughtfully laid out, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Combining Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service with excellent value for money, this is definitely my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Kumamoto. Fantastic new hotel! We took a 37sm corner room, large for japan standard Breakfast soread is good and delicious. Hotel beds are also the best so.far (for tjis 10days trup Kyushu) location is ver central, food plentiful..only issue we had is carpark (due to the central location and probably due to Golden Week,), no parking anywhere near the hotel and ended up waiting for more than an hr to park at Times parking which cost 3600 yen till next day. Overall, we highly recommend this hote.l

Guest UserSince I had a 7-day JR Pass, proximity to a JR station was my top priority for this trip. The hotel is very close to the JR station, and it seems to attract a lot of business travelers. My initial impression was that some of the younger staff at check-in lacked a bit of enthusiasm. But I let that slide. After getting to my room, I couldn't find the Wi-Fi password anywhere. I went downstairs specifically to ask, and the response was 'in room'. I still tried to figure it out myself first, searching every corner, but still nothing. So I went back down. The older staff member was very friendly and helpful. As soon as she mentioned 'TV', I immediately understood, as many hotels back home display it on the television. She even drew a diagram to explain! Usually, when you enter a room and the power comes on, the TV turns on automatically, and you'd see it. But this time, I had to turn the TV on myself, which I hadn't thought of. It just goes to show that service attitudes can vary among different staff. In Japan, I've always admired the professionalism across all industries, but this was the first time I've encountered such a service attitude from a staff member. Overall, this hotel's proximity to the JR station and its excellent value for money make it worth staying at.

The hotel is located very close to near to the train station with AEON Mall just across the road. The hotel also provides sufficient parking space for guests. We appreciated the hospitality and professional services provided by the hotel staff. For the American breakfast, it’s yummy with various drinks. The hotel also provides free welcome drinks starting at 1600 hrs for guests. In terms of cost effectiveness, it’s ranked highest.

Although we have booked a smoker room(no more non smoker room available), we asked for a “smoke-free treatement required” due to my wife’s pregnancy. Checked that box here on trip.com and specifically mentioned on the special request. But to our disappointment, the room still had a lingering smell of smoke. I asked the front desk but they said we could switch rooms for 14700 yen. We understand that there would be no other cheaper rooms available due to golden week, but they could’ve offered to clean the room again or something but they didn’t. We also requested for extra pillows for my pregnant wife on the special request, but non were given.
At their price range, we thought we could get more decent treatment. I have stayed on other cheaper hotels with much better treatment. I hope they would do better next time.

Guest UserWhen we arrived at the hotel, we couldn't find a parking spot, and then one of the staff members—I think Elly—helped us tremendously to find a parking spot. The staff is very helpful and super friendly.
The hotel is centrally located.
It is very quiet in the hotel itself. The surroundings are also extremely quiet, so we were able to sleep well. The beds were very good.
One minor downside is that they didn't offer drinking water. So you had to get it yourself, and the 7-Eleven was around the corner, so that wasn't really a huge problem.
We enjonyed our stay. Thank you!

The location is great, near to the malls and Kumamoto Castle. The room is great, nice street view and rather spacious. The buffet breakfast is fine, and the coffee served is really good. The only problem I was facing is the room temperature. It was a little warm and stuffy without AC, I could not have a good sleep because of that.

Anonymous UserWe had a pleasant stay at HOTEL MYSTAYS Kumamoto Riverside. The hotel is conveniently located near the city center, making it easy to explore Kumamoto Castle, shopping streets, and local restaurants. The riverside setting also provided a nice atmosphere, especially in the evening.
The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with the amenities needed for a short stay. The staff were friendly and professional, and the check-in process was smooth and efficient.
The reason for giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the room space was a bit limited for travelers with larger luggage. However, everything was well-maintained and functional, so it did not significantly impact our stay.
Overall, HOTEL MYSTAYS Kumamoto Riverside offers great value, a convenient location, and reliable service. We would happily stay here again when visiting Kumamoto.

Having lived in Japan for over ten years, I have to commend this hotel. It far exceeded my expectations.
1. Right outside the door is the largest local bus terminal, making it incredibly convenient to get to the airport, Aso, Amakusa, and Fukuoka.
2. The price is half or even less than half of surrounding hotels. I originally had no expectations, thinking it would just be a cheap place to crash.
3. While the hallway decor looks a bit dated, it perfectly aligns with the MUJI団地 (housing complex) design philosophy. You even use a traditional key to open the door.
4. Although the room has an old-style Japanese business hotel decor, it's exceptionally clean and very spacious. The room design is well-thought-out, making it comfortable and secure to use.
5. Both check-in and check-out at the front desk were handled with meticulous care and polite, professional service. This is something even much more expensive hotels I've stayed at elsewhere often fail to deliver.

Overall, a fantastic stay! I really appreciated the complimentary drinks and the spacious bathtub in the room. The service was excellent, and I'll definitely be returning for another visit. My only minor critique is that the location isn't the most convenient, but despite that, I found the overall experience to be very satisfactory.
