"The room was clean and tidy, and the front desk service was excellent, especially the lady who spoke Chinese. Downstairs is a main street, making transportation very convenient. The streetcar goes directly to the JR station via the No. 2 express line. I visited many places like Imabari Castle, Baishinji Temple, Dogo Onsen, Matsuyama Castle, and Iyo-Ozu. I also stayed at a REI hotel in Takamatsu, which was quite good, just a bit smaller than this one."

The room itself was quite spacious. This was my first time in Japan encountering a design where the washbasin was cleverly positioned outside the main bathroom area, which genuinely made the bathroom feel more expansive. The room also came equipped with a small table and two chairs, which was incredibly convenient.
The breakfast was a particular highlight! There was a wide variety of delicious options, and everything tasted great. The sea bream sashimi, in particular, was incredibly fresh and succulent 😋. Among the five types of orange juice available, the 'Wenzhou Orange' was the sweetest – I highly recommend anyone visiting to try it! 🥳"

I was traveling alone, but the single room was larger and more comfortable than I expected, and it even had a massage chair that helped me relieve the fatigue of my travels.

"The staff at the front desk were efficient, though they came across as cold and reserved. The room was disappointing, with run-of-the-mill furniture/furnishings and a creaky chair. The lights were too dim. There was no view as the lower half of the window was blocked by a wall. On the other hand, the bathroom looked quite elegant and was kept clean.
The location is great. There are plenty of dining & shopping options nearby. The hotel has a shopping mall on the lower floors and is next to Mitsukoshi Department Store and Okaido Shopping Street. The Okaido Tram Stop is down the street. The bus stop for the airport limousine is right in front of Mitsukoshi. Attractions such as Bansuiso, Saka no Ue no Kumo Museum and the cable car to Matsuyama Castle are all within walking distance."

Oopendoor97The room was quite small, and the view from the window was a messy cityscape. You couldn't even see Matsuyama Castle from the room. Both the bedding and breakfast were of mediocre quality, which meant it wasn't great value for money.
However, the location was excellent. From Matsuyama Station, you can take tram line 3 or 5 to Okaido, and the hotel is just a two-minute walk from the tram stop. The hotel is surrounded by various dining options and is very close to department stores.

DDaily happyDuring my recent trip to Japan, I had the pleasure of staying at a hotel that also serves as a wedding venue and from the moment I arrived, the level of service was simply impeccable. The staff were not only gracious and professional, but also went out of their way to assist me at every turn, despite my lack of Japanese language skills. Their warm hospitality left a lasting impression and made me feel truly welcomed and cared for.
Though the room was compact, it was exceptionally clean and thoughtfully arranged. As a solo traveler, I found the space more than sufficient — cozy, comfortable, and a fantastic value for the price. It truly struck the perfect balance between affordability and quality.
A special mention goes to the amenities: the hotel provides a well-stocked amenity station at the reception, where guests can freely pick up whatever they need a detail that reflects the hotel’s attention to guest convenience.
While the location is a little removed from the city center, this wasn’t an issue at all for me, as I had a rental car. The added bonus? Free parking on-site, which made my stay even more convenient and budget-friendly.
Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in so many ways. With its blend of elegant ambiance, exceptional service, and thoughtful touches, it became a peaceful and comfortable base for my journey — one I would gladly return to and wholeheartedly recommend to fellow travelers.

Has parking within the hotel but subject to extra charge. Very challenging to park though and they won’t help you park. Need precision for four wheels to balance on two narrow bars.

Rooms on higher floors offer views of Matsuyama Castle, and it's also conveniently close to the tram line. It's an older hotel, yet the rooms are quite spacious. It reminds me of a 4-star hotel in China from about 20 years ago.

Room was clean and compact; but the double bed is quite squeezy if you're fitting two people inside.
Buffet breakfast is 1300¥ if you inquire the day before you intend to eat. It is 1500¥ if you buy it on the day itself.
Accidentally booked a smoking room; but the staff were kind enough to change it for us once they had a room.

VVictorI was there at Jan 2024, and only stayed there for 2 days.
The staff there can speak English, and were nice. The second day I stayed there, the staff offered me to have hotpot with all the other people living in Fujiya, an unforgettable experience I treasured and will forever remembered. Even though it is a proxy of a Japanese family, it did feel like I have experienced the Japanese hospitality and friendliness. There were some interesting characters, who may or may not frequented Fujiya, whom I had the pleasure to have this hotpot together.
The facilities are not the best, but the basics necessities were there and no complaining from me, they have an AC there, comfortable enough for me.
The staff did explain that there is only one shower, so we might have to wait for the person to finish. However, since the location is so close to Dogo Onsen, they did recommend to go there instead, and after all, it was why i chose this location in the first place. Location is really close to the Dogo Onsen and the Yuzuki-Castle ruin, which was a lifesaver for me
I would say that all other sight-seeing locations are within walking distance as well since I did walk to all those interesting places. However, I do realize not all people like to walk like I do. To counter that, Fujiya is practically next to the tram station, which you can use it to go to many places in the city.

The hotel provides everything you need and extra: different types of shampoo, body cream etc… I really enjoyed breakfast: it has traditional Japanese dishes, so delicious!! Would like to get back to Matsuyama and stay at this hotel again

판판다라The accommodation is very clean. The blankets were also clean. Wider than it appears in the photo. There are enough people to sleep comfortably. There is a separate shower room on the second floor, but it is not a burden because it is a private shower room. The owner and employees are all women and friendly, so I think women can use it with confidence. There seems to be only one Wi-Fi installed at the desk on the first floor, so you should assume there is no Wi-Fi. The location of the accommodation is perfect as it is less than a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen. The private rooms have thick walls, so the soundproofing is better than I thought.
If you can tolerate the inconvenience of having a separate shower room, this is the best value for money. Everything else was perfect. Recommended for those who want to use it cheaply.
