It’s a beautiful hotel with a very big compound, right in the middle of nature, you can see the forest and mountains outside. Rooms are good sized and very clean. There is however not much around the hotel vicinity.

Pros: Luxury renovations, good window views. Quiet.
Cons: 1) This place is a bit far from the Jiuzhai resort. But it's not so hard to hire a car. 2) There's only one restaurant for dinners which mainly give Sichuan food. I'm OK with the cuisine, though sometimes I find it's a bit oily. But the dishes are really pricey.
In general I'm happy with my stay. But I would try a different hotel during my next visit.

This hotel is very far from Jiuzhaigou National park (at least 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic) and there is NO shuttle or other transportation offered by the hotel. In fact, it's almost impossible to get a ride share DiDi to this location either, and drivers aren't too excited to come all the way to get you in the middle of nowhere, so nobody accepts the fare.
The hotel itself has VERY limited facilities. There is no bar or lounge, there is no gym or fitness center, and basically there is very little to do while you're here other than the spa which I didn't go to.
There is absolutely nothing around the hotel and the staff can't speak English. I'm very surprised this hotel is allowed to carry the Intercontinental brand name. I think the building and grounds are beautiful, and I can tell was probably e a wonderful hotel back in the day, but the current management of the hotel is clearly milking it for profits without doing any investment in staff, facilities, or guest services.

Honestly, Intercontinental has not lived up to the 5-star rating. There are way too many guests (from too many tour groups) with not enough staff. The experience is little to none. The facilities are as basic of a five star as one can expect. Further, this is not the only intercontinental hotel with this issue. Intercontinental should just rebrand itself to a premium 4-star if it can’t meet the expectations of a 5-star nowadays. Oh not to mention that the block we stayed in had a blackout.. which the staff only realise after we called them.

The hotel is in a scenic and quiet location. Rooms are clean. Services are great. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Yolanda at the front desk who has been helping us through out our entire trips in Jiuzhai including everything we needed in our room and booking for our activities. Thank you.

Hotel provides a hot bath in next bldg which is made up of several pools of different temperature. Ideal for winding down after a mountainous day. Restaurant options are limited, location is a little secluded compared to Hilton. Toilet flushes problematic need to improve. However stay is peaceful, room is spacious with a little balcony for laundry. Overall stay is acceptable and good for the price paid.
