Villa Toscana

This charming boutique hotel is located in a nicely restored historical area of Kaliningrad. Me and my wife stayed there in January for six nights. A true gem! High international standards of hospitality industry - clean rooms, comfy beds, big windows, good sound insulation. They even have a stylish elevator though there're only three storeys there and they offer a parking in the courtyard for at least six vehicles. Breakfast must specifically be noted. Copious, diversified, tasty, with either omelette or fried eggs in addition - at first request. Bravo! They seem to arrange an open-air terrace behind the building during a warm season too. There were deficiencies, however, of course - who's not without a sin? Some small things were not always replenished, from cotton swabs to shoe cleaning cloth. One had to remind receptionists about that but their reaction was invariably immediate and positive so those small trifles did not spoil our impression at all. Their restaurant is city-famous for its food but to know my opinion please read my separate review. Strongly recommended. Do mind though that it's not centrally located. Sic! Avoid their room # 4 - the smallest.

My wife and I decided to take a romantic weekend and spend four days in a place we hadn't been before. We chose Kaliningrad. And we decided to stay at Villa Toscana, as the choice of four-star hotels in the city is small. And we did not regret it at all! This small hotel was built on the site of an old house in the absolutely delightful historical district of Amalienau in 2018 and styled as an Italian villa. Immediately it is clear that the owner of the hotel is in love with Italy (as am I). He tried to capture the charm and spirit of Tuscany. Although in design there are some deviations from the "original", the hotel and rooms are fresh and expensive, which sometimes you do not see even in five stars hotels. Look at the photos: designer radiators, Schneider Electric expensive Merten collection, marble in the bathroom, and in the restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner - tableware of Villeroy&Boch. In general, everything is new and everything is at a premium level. For sedentary guests there is an elevator. It is rare to meet such friendly, caring, professional staff! I had asked to prepare for our arrival a bottle of prosecco, flowers, and chocolates ready for our room. Everything was done at best. The room was cleaned every day without a reminder, and there was always a bottle of complimentary water. Our suite on the second floor had windows overlooking the quiet courtyard with a fountain and we fell asleep and woke up to the murmuring water in the fountain. We had a safe, a full minibar, slippers, bathrobes, air conditioning, hair dryer, TV, and free wifi. I want to mention absolutely wonderful breakfast! When the weather is nice and warm you can go out to the patio, where the sound of the water in the fountain is soothing, and have breakfast there. By itself, the choice of dishes for breakfast, I would not call a big - in the network five-star hotels, it is many times more. But for small private hotels breakfast was not bad. For me, however, to complete the feeling of Italy we lacked Prosecco in a bucket with ice or glasses of white wine. I think that with the price for breakfast of 800 rubles. it is quite possible and will not greatly reduce the net profit. The location of Villa Toscana is beautiful! It's an old neighborhood full of old villas, with a park and ponds. It's very quiet and the air is clean! You can walk to the center of Kaliningrad in 30 minutes. This hotel likes to celebrate weddings and other celebrations - there is a courtyard with a separate pavilion and fountain. I noticed that Kaliningrad citizens also like Villa Toscana restaurant very much - it is one of few with really author's haute cuisine in good European style and execution. Its prices are a little bit higher than in Kaliningrad, but they are definitely lower than in Moscow if you take the same positioning of the institution.
