Our room was a long way from the main hub, up and down irregular steps, some 103 steps in total. Trying to find our way to the restaurant and watch our footing after dark was difficult. Even a member of staff had trouble helping us find the way. On entering the restaurant we were greeted with a blue haze of smoke as an indoor wok station had been set up for stirfry dishes of choice to be prepared on an individual basis. Although very tasty having to wait in line and suffer the smoke was unacceptable. A very surly man was in charge of the restaurant and we resented him telling us what we should or shouldn’t eat. He was so rude. Our room was lovely, enormous infact with a second bedroom but the view was poor and overlooked concrete and pipework rather than the lovely views from the main hub. The complex had been built into the rocks which meant we had a huge rock in our room. A bit bizzare but fun. The shower lacked any shelves and there was no door on the shower so the floor flooded. Overall we thought the complex was pretentious and many visitors would struggle with the location and number of steps to the room we had. Fortunately we are walkers and reasonably fit and agile. The lads who carried our suitcases to and from the room worked hard for their tips.

The best service and people we’ve come across. They made an extra effort to make us feel comfortable. The views are amazing and the hotel felt like a home stay. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone

Melheim Villas Kandy is a tranquil idyll nestled in the beautiful hillside above Kandy. Our room was spacious clean and well equipped, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom clean and the water hot. Out balcony looked out over a stunning forested valley (see pics). Breakfast and dinner were generous and most delicious. And the staff were excellent! So nice, obliging and professional. They really made us feel so well looked after, and kept us very well fed. We enjoyed walking into town. And to the botanical gardens via the university - well worth a visit. We loved our stay, and only wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed here for two days as a base for local excursions, including the elephant orphanage, the botanical gardens, and gem museums. The hotel was perfectly adequate with adjoining rooms for us and our two teenage daughters. The rooms were well appointed and a decent size. The bathrooms were nice with walk in showers. The rooms were very high and had electric and TV sockets halfway up the walls, which made us wonder whether the hotel had originally been designed to have another floor above ours! The hotel had a nice pool with an adjoining lounge and observation deck to look out over the view. The view was obscured by the trees that had grown since the hotel was designed, and we didn't try the pool, but it looked as though it would be a lovely place to relax. The food was good and the service excellent, with Lakshi especially providing outstanding service to us. I think that when we visit Sri Lanka again we might skip Kandy, but this hotel was perfectly fine as a base for our stop over.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. The hospitality was wonderful. The waiter and the waitress were so kind, always smiling. It was a great stay and peaceful. The location was far enough of Kandy to avoid the noise but not too far. Wifi can be improved but was ok

Excellent Hospitality. The hotel has a wonderful view from the Heerassgala mountain (nearby Amya Hills). The rooms are spacious with a balcony.Fantastic garden with pool.We had a gathering with school oldboys.Would love to come again.Overall very good experience. Cleanliness is excellent. Highly recommended for anyone.

We stayed during the Easter weekend for 2 nights. We had a large party of 13 and the staff were so helpful and kind to us. We were always welcomed when we were in the restaurant and around the reception area. Such a friendly group of staff. Lovely food too. We will definitely book to stay again if we are in Kandy again.

Great hotel in the hills of Kandy, so out of the city centre. Very friendly staff and they serve amazing food for very reasonable prices. Room was spacious and comfortable, with great views from the balcony. Nice swimming pool to cool down. They can also accommodate your driver if required.
