Avithos Resort Hotel

Avithos Resort is a really lovely place, although as with so many things, the photos are a bit misleading. The cons While the apartments are nice they're definitely more basic than they appear in the photos. We stayed in a deluxe studio on the second floor of a block and had a small, but pretty shower room, little kitchen area, bedroom with a sofa, table and desk and a balcony with a table and chairs. The little kitchen has now worktop space so not really equipped to cook a meal but there is a toaster, kettle, hob and the basics to rustle up something quick. And you might want to as the prices of the food and drink are very high. Even the local tavernas are quite expensive, although the food is good. The pros The resort is in a lovely quiet spot, but is still fairly close to Argostoli and only 10 minutes from the airport. It has two good local beaches. We loved Ai Hellis, although the slope is a chore in the heat, with its beautiful sand and clear water. The hotel pool is beautiful and the surrounding day beds and loungers are well organised (although as others have mentioned people do tend to 'reserve' them for the day with a towel). The bar area is nice and not too loud so well suited to those wanting a quiet break. The staff are what really make the place though. Sophia and Christina in particular went out of their way to make our trip feel very special and that we were well looked after. Despite my moan about the price of the food and drink, you are on an island and the produce is all excellent. The local cheese is a particular highlight. It's nice and quiet but is well situated so you can go and find restaurants or bars, using the hotel taxi shuttle (€5 per trip). Oh and there are some rescue tortoises and an adorable ginger cat who likes to sit with you on the sun loungers too! So not quite as glossy as the adverts but a lovely place to stay. Just bring plenty of spending money!

Lovely hotel in a small village - somewhere to get away from everything. The rooms were well maintained and clean. The swimming pool area was also cleaned regularly and the pool was lovely. There are restaurants nearby which you can walk to but there are no pavements - I think the hotel has a shuttle service in the Summer which would be helpful otherwise it would be advisable to hire a car. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

This is one of the best hotels in kefalonia. Everything as always was perfect. My room was immaculate everyday and whether I left money on the side or jewellery by my bed it was always there when I returned from the beach. The care and attention of all the staff is second to none. This is my perfect retreat for a little escape from the crazy world of work and life stress. Thank you all at avithos, especially Christina evil runs everything like clock work! 10/10xx

This has been our 8th visit to Avithos Resort we have never stayed anywhere else in Kefalonia Svoronata is the calmest place I know. We haven't stayed in October and although the season is ending for this year the weather was amazingly settled. Above everything I must thank Christina and all the reception staff she is the most beautiful soul and a perfect reflection of the ethos this hotel portrays. Jonida and Arta and some new staff members were as welcoming and friendly as ever always smiling and Arta makes the most perfect Greek coffee nothing is any bother. We had a maisonette a beautiful room split over 2 floors (perfect for keeping your steps up 😂) it is a huge amount of space with 2 large balconies and sun loungers in case you want more privacy than at the pool area! Large rainfall shower in the bathroom and separate sink area to help speed up any slow people ...... I liked this bit. A fully equipped kitchenette with crockery, cutlery and glassware toaster coffee maker fridge freezer provided and some water and tea/coffee to start you off. The rooms are very modern in design and furnished to a high standard throughout. Beautiful gardens surround you at the Avithos and the grounds team are working endlessly to keep everything in an immaculate condition. There is a bit of noise at times but this is unavoidable if you want a perfect oasis. We saw pomegranates ripening in the time we were there. We were very fortunate this year to see the arrival of a baby donkey at the neighbouring smallholding which our balcony overlooked he/she was so cute! The pool bar area has also been enlarged over the years we have been coming. There are many different styles of sunbeds to suit everyone's needs. The large pool is very welcoming. Good selection of drinks and snacks a very relaxing area through from morning to evening which I especially like it is beautifully lit with candles. If you want to escape to a green and calming oasis the Avithos is most certainly that place. Thank you again for a special holiday 💙

Christina & the team made our stay at the Avithos a most pleasurable & relaxed experience. Well equipped & spacious rooms with large comfy beds. Nice pool & breakfast area. Avithos Resort was a very good location from which to explore the Island & has two very good sandy beaches nearby as well as several excellent restaurants.

This is our 6th visit to the Avithos Resort and as always we've had a wonderful time. On arrival Christina was her normal welcoming self and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. At breakfast it was lovely to see Arta and Jonida again and for the first time Ervisa. Once again they catered for all our needs. and they ensured everything was cleared away very promptly and cleaned, which only enhanced the new layout of the breakfast area. The receptionist in the evening Sophia was lovely and bubbly and sorted out our shuttles requirements in the evening. We look forward to returning again in 2024.

By way of follow on to recent post by David K. Would agree with everything said about this hotel and had a great holiday but then always do on Kefalonia regardless of where we stay. We also lost some personal possessions whilst at the resort, during the first week my wife assumed she had misplaced an expensive perfume we put this down to bad luck at the time although my wife was convinced it never left the room, during the second I noticed a pair of my shorts were missing and could not be found, at the time I assumed I hadnt packed them but when I checked when home they were not where they are kept. Did not report to hotel as we were not sure at the time however in light of the previous review know feel pretty sure the items were taken from our room. Sad state of affairs. Hence will not be returning.

We stayed a week at Avithos and we had a splendid time. The resort itself is extremely clean, and extremely well looked after. Everyone at the resort is extremely kind, polite and willing to help no matter what. We had bed and breakfast and breakfast was great - the food was varied, and it was attended to accordingly. We also enjoyed the cats that came to visit every morning! Location of the resort is also great - we had a hire car booked through reception which was 30 euros per day which was reasonable, and we had no issues with the hiring - a seamless process. The only thing to note that doesn’t hinder the rating but is just a concern/disappointment is that on the second to last day, we noted that 3 items of my wife’s possession were missing - a t shirt, and two pieces of makeup with the latter being rather expensive. We did mention this to reception who outlined that they had trust and faith in their cleaning staff, which is fair. We couldn’t find these items by the last day so determined that they must have been taken which is a a real shame and we would encourage other people who have visited to check. Regardless, the hotel is a great place to stay with great staff and we would recommend it accordingly. Thanks for a great week! 😃

We stayed at this hotel the last week of September. We had a lovely time. Staff were most helpful rooms were clean, spotless and done daily, peaceful and tranquil. The hotel offered a shuttle Service to beach and tavernas free of charge. would highly recommend for a peaceful holiday. My only regrets were the pool bar and restaurant were highly priced and to be honest, I believe the hotel could do a lot more business around the bar and restaurant if there were more fairly priced. This is a shame because you end up avoiding it because of the price difference to local bars / restaurants ? Beaches are roughly 10 to 15 minutes walk away quite a slope down to the actual beaches nearest mini market is also around 10 to 15 minutes walk away. There’s one local Taverna five minutes walk and the other local Taverna’s again 10 to 15 minutes walk away or shuttle from hotel? shout out to hotel you have a lovely place to stay an offer excellent rooms and a spotless surroundings. Please please don’t charge so higher prices to your guest for using your Bar and restaurant it just didn’t seem fair
