Blue Marlin Motel

First trip to Key West, from UK, since 2019. Blue Marlin has always been on our short -list, and this time they had availability. Great place, good location, nice pool area and clean. Room was great, would stay here again. Included buffet breakfast was fine: muffins, bagels, coffee, juice, fruit, yogurt. Small charge for parking, but can leave your car for one hour after check out.

Loved everything about this place with one exception. There's a lot of parking and you get an allocated spot ($15 a day). The rooms are a good size, recently refurbished and really well equipped. The pool is one the best I've seen at a motel and is open til midnight. The one bad thing is the breakfast, which is possibly the most diabolical food I've ever eaten - really the cheapest, most processed crap. Not enough to put me off staying here again, I'd just get brekkie elsewhere.

The rooms have been updated nicely since our last visit and the staff was exceptionally nice. Couldn't ask for better. The price for the room was very reasonable. We didn't find the free breakfast even worth going to after our first day. It was very limited.

Pros: We overall really liked our stay there. The location is fantastic, rooms are clean enough and the pool is absolutely wonderful. Cons: Breakfast was just cheap prepackaged pastries. We skipped it after the first one. We were in the nicer, updated part of the motel but things were a bit janky. Bench in the shower was about to rip out, the mirror had come out of the wall and was just leaning against wall (hazard when you have kids). The room keys are frustrating, we had to get them recharged every single day (even though we kept them away from wallet and phones). But the big disappointment was the super rude lady at the morning desk. I ended up getting charged twice (on two separate cards) and she was extremely defensive and rude about it. We would have returned but this was a bummer.

This was our second trip and we just love this place. The pool is nice. The location is great , but nice and quiet. Parking was fine. The laundry is awesome. The shower was nice and roomy with a bench seat as well. It's very convenient to local attractions, (Truman White House, Hemingway House, Southernmost Point, Butterfly House and the state park.). It is also convenient to some nice Cuban and Italian Restaurants. We like it because it's away from the touristy bustle of the main drag. The staff was very nice and very helpful. Just a great place.

Lovely comfy little motel. Breakfast was included, beautiful big pool, lovely clean rooms and extremely helpful staff. A joy to visit. The location is excellent as you are so close to the Duval Loop, butterfly house and the southern most point.

After several trips to Key West, we decided to book the Blue Marlin and we couldn’t have been happier. Because of weather at home we had to come a day early and not only were they able to accommodate us, we were able to stay in the same room all week. Nonni was fantastic in getting us all set!! She’s a great representative of the property! The location was perfect at the south end of the island. So many conveniences within steps. With regard to the motel, the room was excellent. It had clearly been updated recently and had everything you could need. But the pool might have been our favorite feature. It’s very large, with plenty of lounge chairs. It’s surrounded by trees and a privacy fence, so you feel very secluded. We loved relaxing by the pool. As a postscript, after we arrived at the airport, our flight home was cancelled, believe it or not. After re-booking travel, I called the Blue Marlin and they were able to get us in for one more night. Nonni again rocked!

From my first phone conversation with a staff member to the time we checked out, our stay at this distinctive, fun, motel was wonderful. Apart from being the best deal in Key West, The Blue Marlin’s newly renovated, clean, comfortable rooms (the shower is noteworthy!), amazing heated pool, friendly staff, and central location made it the perfect place for a quick escape from frigid northern weather. We were within easy walking distance to great food, beautiful beaches, historic sites, and interesting architecture. There are lots of nice places to stay in Key West but for the best deal, best location, friendliest, most welcoming staff, and most convenient location, we will return to The Blue Marlin!

We go to KW once a year. Usually we stay across the street, and we were not disappointed with our switch. Rooms a clean, the pool is big and heated. Stay were not as warm and fuzzy as next door, but that is OK. Breakfast is only from 7a to 9a- wish that was a bit later. Will stay again.
