Before we arrived here I was convinced that I would be giving this hotel 5/5 having read the majority of the recent reviews. We stayed here for 11 nights I would say it just scrapes 4/5, 3.5/5 would be a fairer assessment in our view. Of course everybody has different expectations from a holiday and you generally base this on value and experiences. A previous reviewer suggested ‘ you need to get a life’ if you post a poor review. Of course that’s their view, although the aim of Tripadvisor is in the name: to advise future vacationers on what they will experience when they take their trip, the good and the bad. If we all gave good reviews, what would be the point of this web site! So let’s look at the good and the not so good. Pro’s: 1. Views from the hotel are stunning when you look across the Adriatic to the islands. 2. The sea is amazingly clear. 3. The coastal town of Orebic is a short 15 minutes walk along a footpath away. There are plenty of bars to stop off at and enjoy a cooling drink. 4. Korcula the mini Dubrovnik, is a short hop on the passenger ferry and will only cost you 6.10 euros for the return journey. Korcula, is well worth a visit at least once during your stay. 5. The hotel has reasonably good air conditioning throughout. 6. The staff are by far and away the main asset of the hotel. Always pleasant, friendly and generally multilingual. 7. The food is always a very subjective subject. We found the food fine and never struggled to find something to eat. Be aware hot food here is a scarcity. We were on the all inclusive lite package, which we preferred as we we were then free to eat lunch elsewhere, often it should be said this was at the beach bar. Shout outs should go to Kristian and Dima for their great service and friendliness. 8. We went on a day excursion to Dubrovnik and arranged this through the hotel asTUI seemed unable to accommodate us. This was a great trip that included a stop off in Ston and a wine tasting experience. The organiser at the hotel who arranged the trip, Mirna, went out of her way to make sure this happened and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a trip through the hotel. Our driver Mario was a safe and reliable driver, with the usual dry Croatian sense of humour. Con’s 1. Something that hardly get mentioned in reviews is that the hotel although facing the sea, does not have a private beach, subsequently it get swamped by other tourists. During the day the area around the hotel including the small beach is completely taken over by an influx of tourists. It appears that they drive here from other European destinations and set up camp. The upshot of this is: Beach sun beds which are an extra cost are unusable unless you are ok to something akin to being surrounded at the O.K Corral! These non hotel tourists are free to use the beach bar and will be seen sharing a mineral water between large groups so they can access the seating, once ensconced often remain for hours on end. This subsequently reduces
