The staff at the accommodation were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The English-speaking staff guided us around the facilities and thoroughly explained the rules. Despite the curfew at 9 PM, we were allowed to return later using an alternate door. Dinner was superb and delicious, with a variety of vegan dishes offered. It's a perfect place to relax and rejuvenate.

For the price, this was a really average stay. The staff were average, as well as the food. The staff were friendly but they didn’t feel genuine. The Temple itself is very beautiful. The rooms are large, however the floor mattresses are completely worn out so you can actually feel the hard floor beneath you. I’ve stayed in a Ryokan before and their mattresses were still soft and comfortable so this Temples mattresses are definitely in need of an upgrade. Would I come here again? Probably not.

Everything was exceptional and memorable: our room, the facilities, the bath, the gardens, the staff, the food.

It completely overturned my image of a temple lodging. The vegetarian food was beautiful to look at, delicious, and filling. The room was warm, clean, and comfortable. The morning service was also a valuable experience. The lodging has a refined atmosphere, including the garden.

When I opened the door, I was shocked. It was so beautiful. I stayed at the shukubo for two nights. I thought it was expensive when I booked it. I lost half of my iPhone in two nights. But I was shocked when I opened the door. 😄The shukubo is very close to Kongo Peak. The location is in the center of Koyasan. It is close to the bus stop. It is very convenient. I highly recommend it. I give it a thumbs up👍

The location for a spiritual purification journey is excellent. Across the road is Tanshang Jialan, a complex of ancient buildings among thousands of woods, which is very spectacular.
The rooms at Sochiji Temple are very large, with one bedroom, one living room, and a separate bathroom, but the bathroom is a public bathroom with a hot spring. This is their style and a very special experience.
The vegetarian meal is like kaiseki cuisine, with many courses served in order and taking more than an hour to eat.
The service staff are very enthusiastic and nice!

Normal Japanese-style room with 4 futons, nice shared shower with a small onsen. The evening meal was excellent. The morning ceremony was an experience to live although a little long...For breakfast we enjoyed half of the dishes, but It's a question of taste…

The building itself was stunning and the food excellent, the staff spoke English well but the room was dreadful, no shower facilities, a dirty concrete balcony facing out on a noisy service yard and without chairs. We very much got the impression that western guests weren’t really welcome so skipped the meditation and got out as soon as possible

My wife and I stayed 2 nights here and had a wonderful experience. The food was incredible and all the people were very nice. The room was very comfortable and it was nice to have a bathroom attached. This is a good place to stay for exploring the area.

To experience at least once. very well organized; large bedroom with real beds on request. Underfloor heating but still a little cold. Vegetarian dinner at 6 p.m., very well served and attentive, you have to attend the ceremonies in the morning which last an hour plus 30 minutes of explanations on Buddhism. The vegetarian breakfast is a bit difficult, you have to be initiated, we didn't have anything. The site is unique with the sanctuary and the numerous temples, can be done from Osaka without staying in a temple, if you are not initiated.

We are a couple and this was the 3rd time we came to Koyasan. We know this immersive experience among the monks well. We were made very welcome already before check-in time. They put our luggage aside and went to visit the cemetery. Coming back at the end of the day, apprentice monks welcomed us with a huge smile and almost humor. They served us tea and okakis (crackers) while we checked in. The room was traditional, tatami and futon with private toto toilet and sink. (It is not always private in others where the toilets are shared). It was beautiful and clean. A mini fridge. Bottles of water and tea available with kettle. The shower and bath (sento), super clean and hot, it was super nice to be able to bathe in peace after a long day. We are tattooed and have not seen any restrictions on this. Besides, there was no one there at the same time as me or my fiancé so it was like it was private! Meal at 5:30 pm, vegetarian and delicious even though we love meat, we can do without it. Impeccable service. Morning ceremony my fiancé went to, great experience as usual and the monks were on hand for questions. Breakfast at 7:30 am. As good as the day before! Pleasant departure, nothing to say, we leave with great memories of this place. We recommend Soji-inn.
