Northcote

Really enjoyed our lunch experience with friends and my young granddaughter. The staff were absolutely wonderful with her and made us all feel so welcome (whispering to us when the little one was sleeping then welcoming her like a special guest when she woke up and joined the party). The food was excellent, ambience great but most of all the food was absolutely outstanding. Many thanks to the whole Northcote team …

We had booked here for a special birthday. The room was lovely looking out onto the garden. The reception staff pleasant but not too helpful on where to visit locally. We would expect that some sort of ‘nibbles’ would be served with pre-dinner drinks but none offered. The breakfast is great if you like cooked food. I personally don’t and don’t eat eggs either. On asking we were told that the policy was to serve a cooked menu only. No croissants, fresh bread, pancakes, French toast etc. we heard other people also asking the same question and also commenting on the poor quality of the cafetière coffee. No alternative coffee offered we had to ask. The restaurant evening menu was great in parts, some courses disappointing especially the quail. And please put fresh not artificial flowers on the table. Rather disappointing.

Spent a relaxed afternoon, evening and night there. The meal was amazing as expected. Staff pleasant and attentive. One small gripe was that we were not told about the times of the breakfast. We came down at 10:15 and were refused breakfast and ended up at Huntleys which was fantastic.

What to say other than faultless! We came to stay as a 50th Birthday surprise as part of a culinary voyage around the North of England! First impressions are ver6 good, beautiful setting wonderful warm greeting at reception and then we were taken to our room, room 12, wow wow wow amazing! We have stayed in many luxury hotels including the Savoy and this trumps the lot! Immaculate, tasteful and smelt amazing! We went for a few drinks at the bar, all were gorgeous, the rhubarb sour was my favourite, staff fabulous, attentive but not overbearing! We then went for a meal at the Michelin restaurant, simply stunning! Every course was packed with flavour and creative without the need to challenge, like so many seem to want to do these days! I’m going to do a full review of the restaurant separately but we WILL be back and I can highly recommend to anyone! Thank you Northcote

What an amazing time. We did the Gourmet overnight. The hotel is fantastic, we were upgraded to a deluxe room and it truly was! Small touches made it really lovely. The food was very special from Lisa Goodwin- Allen. Even the snacks we had with our G@T in the afternoon were some of the best we’ve had!! Breakfast was just amazing - can’t fault the choice or the quality of anything we had. The staff were friendly, chatty, polite, knowledgeable and just great! The setting is just so peaceful Can’t fault it and would recommend to anyone who is staying in the beautiful Bowland/Ribble Valley or just passing through.

Wow. Just wow. What an amazing place. Attention to detail is top notch. Room was clean and lovely. Good at dinner was absolutely amazing. Fine dining yes but certainly felt satisfied at the end of dining. Staff are courteous and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble

It’s always a treat to visit Northcote. This visit I sampled the vegetarian menu. I wasn’t blown away by the main dish (cauliflower Waldorf) but the breads and starter were amazing, and my husband loved his dishes too. The desserts were delicious. Great service and ambiance

My wife and I keep returning to Northcote, because it's just so welcoming, so comforting - an ideal place to retreat from the world for a bit. Every member of staff makes you feel like they're pleased to see you - almost like being welcomed into the home of a good friend. The bar is relaxed, cosy without being cramped, and has a brilliant selection of drinks - I'd recommend trying some of the less well-known cocktails, as there are some real discoveries to be made. Some of the local gins are quite something - and of course, due to their partnership with Louis Roederer, the champagnes are excellent. Dinner is always delicious - bursting with flavour, inventive without being mad, just the right balance between courses. I'd strongly recommend the cheese course, with the flight of port - a brilliant way to end the meal. Rooms are really tastefully appointed, very comfortable, and generously sized. This is my sixth or seventh visit to Northcote (I've lost count!), and I'll keep coming back, time and time again, because there's nowhere else quite like it. Other high-end restaurants might match the dinner, other high-end hotels might match the comfort, but nowhere else I've been pairs it all together quite so seamlessly. I genuinely feel like I'm coming home when I arrive at Northcote (but a far, FAR nicer version of home!).

OMG what a wonderful experience. We decided to stay the night following my attendance at the cookery school some time ago, but have only just managed to get around to visiting again. What lovely staff, they were friendly, sincere and efficient. Everything we needed was provided, and I believe if it hadn't been then, they would have been totally devastated! We had the 5 course tasting menu (Michelin *) which was glorious, even though I might not have chosen the exact courses we had - mackerel, sweetbreads, turbot, pigeon and clementine. Such a lovely evening, where nothing was missed or left to chance. Our room was spectacular, with all the comforts of home and an extremely nice bed which was great to sleep on. Breakfast was another feast with an extensive menu which you were able to mix and match with. Can't wait to go again
