This was an experience. Having the estate to ourselves and a few other guests out of hours was lovely - wander the gardens in peace and at sunset. The coachhouse is old - of course it is - it was built in the 1800's but lovely and with character. The staircase is steep and narrow - so if you have reduced mobility then probably not the best choice. The resident rooster happily woke us around 5am! but all part of the charm. We really enjoyed the House tour also as part of our stay and of course the Rose gardens at the perfect time of year. Everything on hand that you would need.

We stayed in the historic Blacksmith cottage and the inside was comfortable and with modern facilities. We could wander the grounds and have an excellent tour of the house. Could improve on the teabags. Excellent stay.

We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Estate and the experience was wonderful, personal and so relaxing. Being able to walk around the the rose garden early in the morning, sit on a bench and just soak in the peace and quiet and then swimming in the river. Thank you ever so much xxx

The $5mil dollar entrance has been done well. The cafe / restaurant was wonderful (excellent food and coffee) and the rose gardens aplenty. The rose gardens need attention (I believe they are run by volunteers). The house tour could have been made a little more interesting as it is an incredible time capsule. We were advised that we weren’t allowed to take photos in the house as Woolmers don’t want people to put it on social media and then not visit in person. I think they need to rethink this strategy as its a bit of a hidden gem and definitely needs more people going through it to give it the attention it requires to make it work. Definitely suggest visiting Brickenden afterwards as it is just down the road and you can take as many photos as as you like .
