This hotel was a fab find. Right on the high street (if entered through the pub). Beautiful room with everything included. We were visiting Hackney Empire which is practically next door, perfect! Will definitely book again if in the area.

I stayed one night at the Old Ship when I went to the All Points East Festival and wanted a place to crash close by. For my purposes, the Old Ship was perfect. My single room was on the top floor and though it was small, it was bigger than most single rooms I have stayed in, in London! And the bed was really comfortable. Water in the room and nice bathroom, hot water kettle and I even tried the instant coffee which amazingly, wasn't too bad - all boxes ticked. I did not get to eat at the pub - I had planned to on my check out day but they had a private function. I did manage to have a drink late at night on my return from the festival - was quite noisy but I didn't hear any of that in my room (and boy did that drink taste good after a long day at the festival.) The staff member the following day kindly stored a small bag for me while I walked around Hackney for awhile. The overground stops nearby and there are many buses as well. I will return for sure.

Disastrous and incredibly fortunately one that could have been far worse. I've stayed @ the hotel before - really liked it and recommended it to others so when I stayed there I expected good service + experience. I arrived @ 2330 - I was held up by travel. At this time the place was shut, there was a buzzer I tried but no answer. I could not get through to anyone. I was then stranded in London past midnight with no where to stay. I hope the reader of this message understands how dangerous that is and the implications of this, especially for guests with younger families. I some how managed to find a friend to stay with @ hours of trying - others might not have the option. PLEASE CHANGE YOUR SYSTEMS!! I went to see them the next day to report the problem was greeted by a very personable staff member who was regretful but basically shrugged off the whole thing? I booked through *********** and he told me that he had no way of contacting me anyway or refunding me? I contacted *********** who told me they couldn't help either. I found an email that said checkin was open till 22:00 - that was then the excuse by both parties to dismiss me + pass the blame onto me. Ugh. So not even a refund let alone the significant extra costs I had to endure to find somewhere to stay. Disappointing, not OK but just hope this drives change so that someone isn't seriously hurt in the future by this

Well, since our last review, which we gladly removed, it's gone back to how should, (Thank you, Shannon) uber friendly helpful staff on the whole. Food looks delicious even though we've not tried it..... yet. Worth a visit, but check if there's a party booking / private party / closed to the public

**UPDATE** DISAPPOINTING. To sit there for several hours to have staff come round and then throw reserved "tiles" on the table and expect you to move at a certain time is not really acceptable. Especially after all other tables are already taken. Fine, have bookings but don't expect established customers who spend possibly £5-600 a week compared to a "party" who probably spend £2-300 A YEAR to be removed from where they're sat. Basically "thanks for your money you're being evicted:" If you don't want them sat there then explain beforehand and offer alternatives. Manners cost nothing and it's called "Common Courtesy" Or, put reserved signs on tables on opening. Apart from that its a Chilled out place and "Most" of the staff are pleasant and accommodating. Fantastic food..

Good sized room, well kitted out. Larger double room. Pleasant surroundings prior to attending a gig at the nearby Moth Club. A hotel stay got me discounted dinner and lunch in the hotel's pub, ground floor. I had a rotisserie chicken and Caesar Salad, both lovely. I'd happily stay again. The place seems to be a bit of a hidden gem.

We go here before we go to pantomime once a year. Nice atmosphere, good food. Good for families too. We had the burgers, kids had the **** chicken. Ok priced and food was quick. We booked on line before we went and we were shown to a table in the corner.

The area of Hackney isnt great. Its not on the tube line so i wouldnt go back. However this is a really nice place, with lovely staff, and comfortable rooms. Negatives are no breakfast is served and also no real air conditioning- but the pluses outweigh the minuses, and the warm welcoming staff make the difference

The noise level is insane. I think you should warn people on your website that you have loud music playing till 1am on a Friday night. Which actually didn’t go off till 1.10am. Then it carried on outside till 5am in the morning we had absolutely no sleep . We were in room 4 first floor.
