Dougoya Reviews

This was my first time in Matsuyama and Dogo Onsen, and it was also my first time there, so when I arrived at night and tried to go there, I didn't know where it was, and even when I searched, it showed a completely different area from Dogo Onsen, which was a big obstacle when I arrived. 　It was my first time there, so I chose a nearby place to go to Dogo Onsen, but when I arrived, a completely different place was shown, so I panicked quite a bit, but when I contacted Dogoya by phone, they were very kind and I was able to calm down and get there safely, so I'm very grateful for their help. Dogoya is a quaint, hidden inn, and conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen. I definitely don't recommend it for families (especially with small children). If I go to Matsuyama again, I'll stay at Dogoya (next time I'll be able to go there without getting lost), so I look forward to seeing you then. I'm sorry that I wasn't able to thank the innkeeper for his help, because I arrived at night and left early in the morning.

They said they were lucky enough to get a private room... but I thought they were all private rooms. This place has a minshuku concept, so even if you're lucky enough to get a private room, the bathroom is shared. Accommodation is not cheap either. If I go again next time, I think I'll spend more money and go to another hot spring hotel or ryokan nearby.

There are really fewer facilities than expected, and there are almost no services at all.

The breakfast was just the right amount and very delicious. The building was quaint and interesting. The clerk and the ryokan staff were very kind. I have stayed at ryokan inns all over Japan, but Dougoya's futon was very comfortable and I slept better than ever before. I stayed with my elderly mother, but it was a little difficult to climb the slope from the station to the inn. However, it was a very impressive inn. Thank you very much.

special experience

The ryokan was well preserved and maintained an old Japanese traditional style house. Our room was a spacious tatami mat room with small and cute yards. Kotatsu (a table with heater) provided a nice touch. The private bath was small but enough for two to three people. It is a good ryokan to experience Japanese Inn, especially people from overseas. One side note, you do not expect to sleep on bed in this Ryokan. Staff was kind and friendly. Recommend!!

Everything was good except shared bathroom. But if you get used to it, may not be much of a problem.

Beautiful, lovingly arranged interior, fantastic breakfast and the most attentive service from the wonderful host! The most beautiful place in Matsuyama!!!

It's a really cool place. I traveled for 8 days in Shikoku and this accommodation was by far the best. I was very late at the check-in time due to scheduling conflicts before check-in, but I was touched by how kindly they handled it. The breakfast was delicious, and the small but substantial hot springs were also very satisfying. I feel like I have been invited to an elegant Japanese home and received great hospitality. If you want to make your time in Dogo Onsen even more perfect, I highly recommend Dogoya!

古い料亭旅館を改装して使っているそうです。なるほど凝った作りで、ゆったりとした時間が流れています。 アーティストによる各部屋の内装も見事ですが、私が気に入ったのは行灯。地元の作家さんの作品です。
