Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge

We stayed at Lakaz Chamarel last week to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was wonderful. From the moment of arrival to our departure, the stay was outstanding. The location itself is special. Perched on a hill way up above the island’s south east coast, you are surrounded by unique fauna and flora. We nearly stepped on a Panther Chameleon (the only type to be found in Mauritius). We also spotted a mongoose, an oriental garden lizard and beautiful birds (like the abundant red-whiskered bul bul) - all around our lodge. From the View Bar next door we watched the island’s huge flying foxes gliding around at sunset too. We stayed in the Piton Rivière Noir chalet. We had our own infinity pool - from where we could look down to the sea - unforgettable. We were just a few steps from the path up to the summit of Piton Canot. Although a strenuous climb, the reward at the top was quite something. It’s a very peaceful place too and, as part of our package, we enjoyed a coconut body scrub, a massage and a couple of henna tattoos. The yoga session was good too - everyone felt welcome, regardless of experience. The meals were also top quality. We enjoyed the dorade and ruby snapper - everything so well seasoned too. It was here that we tried the local lychee wine - you should try it - semi-sec and perfect for the tropical food. What made the stay especially memorable was the warmth of the team who works there. We want to give a special thank you to Peggy and Thierry (the location managers). Peggy ensured that our late arrival would soon be forgotten by walking us over to our dinner table and letting us know we could complete the check-in formalities the next morning and Thierry was a gem too - offering helpful advice and offering us a late check out (and lunch) to make up for the time we missed due to our missed connection in Dubai. Thanks for the beautiful anniversary gift too! We’ll treasure it. 10/10. Perfect.

A fabulous paradise in the hills above the stunning coast of South Western Mauritius. Each property is secluded so you can escape the world and innerse yourself in nature… from exotic birds that come to your table to fruit bats that cruise the sky at dusk. We had a sea view suite which comes with its own mini infinity plunge pool and outdoor shower. Staff were exceptional and knew who you were without having to ask after day 1. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Not cheap but this is luxury after all!

Went to Lakaz with my husband for our honeymoon and we stayed at suite tropical. Had the best sleep in our spacious apartment, LOVED chef Eddy's food and warm staff (Vinesh made sure we got royalty treatment! ＜3); gym, pool and massage - divine!

This is a truly wonderful place to relax, if you wish, or challenge yourself with trails with wonderful views. The villa was stunningly comfortable. The staff were so friendly, especially Thierry. My wife had the best massage of her life, no mean feat, with Kerishme (apologies if spelling is wrong). Overall a must visit.

We had a weekend get-away at Lakaz Chamarel... It was just awesome and peaceful for a relaxing weekend. Alicia took care of our reservation. Thierry and Vinesh have been super with us while having dinner and breakfast... Peggy was always checking on us if anything missing. The massage done by Karishma is a must... Lovely experience over there... To redo!
