We booked Son Granot last minute for two adults and a toddler. The hotel is under new ownership (the new owners have a hotel in Mahón, Jardines des Bruixes- which is amazing) and that is why we took a chance and booked here. We were very unsure after reading some of the reviews but knew that the new owners would have made changes. Positives: - only 8 rooms - a very small hotel that felt so safe during covid times - The receptionist (Eliana- not sure on the spelling) was fabulous. So caring and helpful. She made our stay and could not do more to help us. She was very kind to our daughter and lent her some beach toys to play with. She became very attached to a green spade! - breakfast- everything you can imagine, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, boiled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, ham, avocado, croissants, yoghurt, granola, salmon. It was delicious and made to order. The breakfast was served in a lovely outside garden which was lovely for our daughter to play in. - location - easy access to calas fonts and Mahón. We love calas fonts and all the choice of restaurants. - The swimming pool - we spent a few days around the pool and pretty much had it all to ourselves - Thursday night Jazz night was lovely - The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and is lovely to walk around - The hotel is clean and tidy. The rooms are made up quickly and usually when we were eating breakfast. - Aircon, fridge and safe in the room - communal areas have been redecorated and we completed to a high standard Improvements: - Our room was small and rustic. It suited us but we couldn’t open the window as the restaurant had a huge open bbq and the smell was very strong. The bathroom could do with improvements, the shower was a bit old. - The evening restaurant isn’t linked to the hotel and we ate there one night but did not enjoy it. It is very very expensive and not suitable for younger children. The menu was restrictive if you do not eat fish or have dietary requirements. Menorca is very busy at the moment so you have to prebook most restaurants and we were caught off guard for a few nights and didn’t feel we could eat at the hotel restaurant so ending up with takeaways which was a shame. - the pool bars were not open at lunch time or during the day. If you want lunch or a drink you have to leave the hotel premises. Sometimes it’s nice to have a snack and a drink and just relax on a sun lounger without having to leave the hotel! In summary, we loved our stay at the hotel and would gladly stay there again. Next time we would make sure we had a room with a balcony and would make sure we had evening meals organised. I think this hotel will be constantly improving as the new owners have only had it for a few months. This time next year I am sure all the improvements would have been made and it will be a fantastic, finished resort. My pictures aren’t great as I didn’t take many!
