Kinderhotel Appelhof

We stayed at the Appelhof for 3 days in May 2022 with 4 small children (4,5,6,9). The complex is huge and I was very relieved that we were staying in the main building. The food was really good, plentiful and at children's level. The tables were also cleared very quickly and the staff was overall friendly. The complex itself is not perfect - here and there it needs to be renovated again, but everything is within reason and for 4 stars in order. What bothered us was that there is no room on the complex where washing machines and dryers can be used (as is quite common in other children's hotels). We were there on a rainy weekend and urgently needed to wash socks and trousers - but unfortunately you can only use the washing service for 16 euros. There is also a bobby car "race track" in the main building, which is great for children - but I would simply put the cars away at 8 p.m., since children still slide at night (and it's very loud on tiles). Or: I would buy whisper tires. Apart from that, it was a dream for the children - there is so much to discover. The petting zoo, which is open twice a day for an hour under the supervision of an animal care group, is also great. On the one hand, the children have the opportunity to pet animals on their laps - on the other hand, the animals have the rest of the day in peace. It's also great that the children were entertained and happy all day - and all without any screens.

First of all: The children really liked it and we made the trip for them. But I wasn't thrilled, the hotel doesn't deserve four stars - especially considering the prices. The food was mediocre, with ups and downs: the mussels weren't edible, but there were great steaks. Why is there no ice cream for the children in mid-June? It's a good thing that the drinks are freely available at all times - but does it really have to be Cola, easily accessible for 4-year-olds, first? Rooms are simple and functional, the large bathroom including a baby bath tub is great. Overall, the facility is not exactly clean and partly desolate - there is still rubbish in the room from the last guests, soft play facility full of cobwebs and dust, paint is peeling off the playground equipment, the stone tiles in the outdoor pool are missing the grout in many places, rental bikes are not in good condition etc. Unfortunately, there are no instructions at all in the creative workshop - it's a shame if the parents (like us) aren't gifted with handicrafts. Animation program: had the impression that it was only offered in part to meet a minimum. For example at the campfire: after 15 minutes the fire is divided to get embers for the bread sticks (not enough sticks for all the children). everything deleted after 1 hour. Although the staff are friendly, I expect from a 4* hotel that taxis or massages are booked by the reception and I don't have to contact the providers myself. The caretakers in the petting zoo were great!

Have been here many times. The children and teenagers feel good. Unfortunately, the issue of cleanliness has been the only tolerable issue for years. For example, there was a bunch of grapes in the hallway for more than three days and there was a 1 cm large dead animal on the wall of our room on the day of arrival. I think it's nice that the table is decorated free of charge for a birthday and a cake with candles is provided. This year our teenage daughter really wanted to come here. Maybe because of the cool outdoor program. The rooms are spacious, but in terms of price you can afford it here.

Wonderful, absolutely positive experience days in and around the hotel! - After the long demanding period of lockdown, it was an absolute pleasure to be able to enjoy the hospitality and services of the entire team. For us it feels as if the Appelhof had not been closed! Cleanliness, competent team members in all areas, joy and enthusiasm to be able to serve guests again could be seen on all faces. Thanks for the nice days!

Das überaus freundliche und kompetente Personal ist stets bemüht, auch die ausgefallensten Wünsche zu erfüllen. Die Nähe zu Wien und Graz ca. nur je 1,5 Stunden Fahrzeit ist ein weiterer großer Pluspunkt. Das ganze Areal ist autofrei und die Kinder können sich frei bewegen. Das Essen ist hervorragend, abwechslungsreich und reichhaltig. Wir kommen seit vielen Jahren immer wieder gerne. Das nahegelegene Skigebiet Niederalpl ist übersichtlich bietet aber trotzdem genügend abwechslung und ist hervorragend für Skikurse. Es ist außerdem mit dem mehrmals täglich fahrenden Shuttlebus einfach und gratis zu erreichen.

Das Kinderhotel ist ein toller Platz, um mit der Familie einen Urlaub zu verbringen. Das Essen ist super, die Leute sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Die Angebote für die Kinder sind toll. Die Betreuung im Kinderklub ist wirklich hervorragend, ebenso die Betreuung bei Aktivitäten und Bastelarbeiten. Wir kommen gerne her!

Der Appelhof wirkt weniger wie ein Hotel, mehr wie ein kleines Dorf. Teilweise „shabby chic“, rustikal, modern,… einfach toll. Das Essen war gut, reichlich und abwechslungsreich - nur die Fliegen im Buffetbereich hätten nicht sein müssen (aber jo mei, Landleben!) Unser Sohn (3 Jahre) hatte keine Minute Langeweile. Von der Vielfaltigkeit der Möglichkeiten setzt das Hotel neue Maßstäbe für uns. Zwei Anmerkungen: lichtdämmende Vorhänge oder Jalousien am Zimmer wären super; und Servucepersonal, welches zumindest 2-3 Worte Deutsch spricht.
