Booked first and only then read the reviews 😮, so I was a bit hesitant... But no noise, clean room, friendly reception, who made a great suggestion for a restaurant. Oh yes, no toilet roll, but we got it, with apologies. The outside looks just like in the pictures in real life, the inside is slightly darker. I don't think it meets the definition of "hotel", I expect at least a restaurant, but a great place to spend the night, 25 minutes by car from the ferry to IJmuiden.

Arrived at our hotel and the security bloke told us that this hotel shut down a year ago…. We rang that morning to see if we could rearrange as we had heavy snow near us and he said no?? So they answered the phone in the morning but didn’t answer when we were sat outside wondering why we were able to book a room for a hotel that has shut down. We then had to pay an extra. £80 to stay in a travelodge. Although, looking at other reviews I think it was a blessing!!

This hotel has everything you need, a sink with a hole where you can wash your hands and feet at the same time, of course. Like wildlife? This place also has its fair share of dead moths and bedbugs lying around. If you’re short of some gear for a party there’s guys outside all night that can sort you out. We weren’t bothered that the TV wasn’t working because looking out the window was like an episode of Top Boy, made us glad the curtains wouldn’t close. Also, this fine establishment comes equipped with plenty of mould if you’re looking to boost your immune system. One drawback would be that they don’t serve breakfast, but there’s plenty of food residue lying on around in the drawers if you get peckish. Luckily the plug sockets don’t work so there’s no need to worry about being electrocuted by the exposed wiring.

I know it was a cheap nightly rate but a cheap rate does not excuse the horror show that was presented on arrival. I was given the key for room one, there was black crumbs and hair all over the 'clean' bed. Dead flies on the window sill, hair stuck to the toilet, black marks in the sink, dirty foot print in the shower and a black mould shower trap, topped off with congealed toilet paper in the shower drain. After speaking to the manager/owner, he agreed that this was not acceptable, calling in the cleaning, who proceeded to argue with him in front of me, denying it was dirty. I was reassured by the manager that 2 cleaners would go into the room and clean it fully when I was out, ready for my return. On return, 8 hours later the cleaners had changed the linen, which still had hairs on it and cleaned the shower cover, no other cleaning had been done. After speaking to the new on shift manger about how I would not impressed with this supposed clean. He agreed to move me to the only free room (double not single as I had booked) He walked in and said, "see, nice and clean!" Let's just say it was not! Black mould on the grout, empty shower gel container in the shower, empty loo roll on the window sill, black mould in the shower, hairs on the bed and a remote control covered in dead skin and dust. I was too tired to ever argue, I slept full clothed on top on the bed and did not use anything in the room. At 1am the conversation took place about the wifi signal being down and at 4am a large group who had been to a local festival, had had a good drink and proceed to tell each other how much they loved each other for over half an hour. As you can imagine, I did not sleep well and left at 7 am tired and grumpy. No amount of money and time will ever get this place back to being habitable. Do not stay hear, do not waste your money and if you do, get a tetanus jab!

I didn't actually get to go but from the other reviews, that's just as well. I was booked in for a Saturday night with my family as we were due to visit Newcastle for their Uni Open Days. I rang on Thursday - so 48 hours before we were due to arrive - to confirm check-in times and was told that all bookings had been cancelled to make way for another, bigger party! I asked to speak to the manager, who very conveniently wasn't in. When were they going to inform me?? When I arrived after my drive up from Liverpool? Unbelievable. I'm awaiting a response to an email sent to them...I won't hold my breath.

We walked in and walked straight back out🤣 Avoid at all costs!!!! If I could rate it below terrible I would. The place is so so scary and looks like it’s a drug den. Cigarette burns all over the sheets and broken shower screens! Honestly would rather sleep on the streets..:
